Springtown STRIKE! on horizon

Well folks it really seems as if we are bedding in for a long winter of discontent. The rumours are aligning that we are heading for a strike as the newly appointed HR director has already made his plan clear not to deal with the union in good faith. His performance at a recent quarterly meeting was shocking at least where he was openly arguing and very disrespectful to a union rep in front of the full shift. This does not bode well for this individual. His reputation is already trashed and he will do well to regain any semblance of respect in that factory. Remember Mark's "do you need a hug" quote? This person seems to be in the same disrespectful mould. Pity, he could have been a hero but seems doomed to fail.

It saved the dividend. That is all that matters to Dave. I doubt any union presence would have done a thing. In fact they probably would have fired engineers instead with a union involved.

I recall you guys taking a temporary pay cat. How’s that working out?

I doubt the OP is an employee. Probably a union boss trying to lay the foundation for a strike by creating lies.

OP came here figuring they could preload a bias against mgmt and quickly learned there is no sympathy for union threats.

1cit - What is it about Springtown that makes it different than any other union action? They pretty much work the same worldwide. Threaten to strike if you don't get an immediate 30=50% bump in pay. What HR or mgmt team on earth is going to "play nice" when the union goal is to shut down the company? Especially when you don't have leverage with that fab sitting empty in NRM.

The right thing - Do YOU need a hug?

Well what do you expect? You vote in a union who immediately throws the company into turmoil by ransoming a head factory at a time when the company is trying to regain sales growth and introduce a new product. Those of us employed at other facilities around the world will be impacted by your union greed.
