Thread regarding USAA layoffs

When did member contact employees start getting an 8% bonus?

I used to work at USAA on the phones a few years ago, and back then everyone (at least those not in Lead, Manager, and higher positions) got the same bonus percentage, from MSRs to IT to HR, etc. This was the typical "15-20%" that recruiters would always tell us about.

I recently rejoined USAA and now I'm seeing that people in member contact roles, even managers, now have an 8% bonus target?! When did this happen? Am I missing something here?

How was there not a mass walkout when MSRs, who were already on the lower end of USAA's pay ranges (when compared to non-member contact roles), got their bonuses literally cut in half?

Do the MSRs get a large pay raise every year (5% or more)? If not, they are being scr***d.

OP here.

@1acq+1qO5v1Ll To answer why I would come back, despite the recent bullsh-t changes that have been made (RTO, benefit changes, etc.), USAA is still a pretty solid employer, especially in San Antonio. Options for remote work are becoming increasingly rare and I'm not willing to move, so USAA is one of the only companies in the city that offers jobs in my field.

@1rbv+1qO5v1Ll Thanks for explaining, that makes at least some sense. So basically rather than relying on one big chunk of pay in February/March, it's spread throughout the year in the form of a permanent raise that isn't subject to how well/poorly the company does.

Started Oct 2020 when they moved MSR starting pay to $20-$22 hourly, then that December, they gave MSR’s an additional 7.5% pay bump, which also shrunk their bonus. So they get more salary per pay check instead of having to wait until late Feb or early March for the bonus payout.

They reset the corp target from 1.5 to 1. MSR's have a 1.5 bonus incentive; therefore, multiple the CoSA mbr contact score by 1.5.

MSRs didn’t want the salaries hinged on bonuses. So USAA increased base pay and decreased bonus rate few years ago.

They fu---d the bonus a couple of years ago. Instead of being a leader USAA wants to follow the “industry standard” instead of setting it.
