I want to send out a sincere THANK YOU to Windstream for laying off my husband who gave 23 years of his life over to your organization. My husband was one of your best employees. He signed on an hour early daily, NEVER took his lunch, and gave everything he had to you. He was the most loyal employee who did everything that was asked of him. He made AMAZING friendships along the way, which we will always be grateful for. I have watched him slowly lose his joy, his self-esteem, and his happy personality. I saw him become SICK on Sunday nights because he had to return on Monday mornings. Week after week, month after month, year after year, he feared being let-go, but he hung in there and gave it his all. This past Thursday, the call finally came in - he was laid-off, on-camera in front of and with 6 other co-workers - with his spineless boss watching. That was it - he was done. A 12-week severance package for 23 years of service. Unbelievable. Are we sad and upset and angry - YES. We have been through this before when Windstream laid me off, so we know we will be fine. Now for the positive: my husband is BACK. HE is happy, stress-free, joyful and excited that he was not left behind in his AWFUL company. Life is too short. As his friends and co-workers call him to check on him - he is telling them that this is the biggest BLESSING that has ever happened to him. He is FREE from a company who placed NO value in their employees or in the clients. So.......THANK YOU Windstream for giving my husband back to his family - now he can find a company that truly cares and values their people.

Love how people waste their time by clocking in a hour early and not taking lunch. value your life and time and realize that these companies don't care, and will never care. you're not family, you're an employee. sounds like he should of quit years ago and was sticking around for..........what? If you're not getting paid what you deserve, move on.
What happened to the comment from the poster supporting age discrimination and promoting that the older workers be fired and replaced with younger workers. Don't worry I took a screen shot for documentation purposes. I plan to send to HR soon, so start boxing up your things
@btnn+1pe1GO54 - thank you for the comment!
I had my EEOC interview recently regarding age discrimination complaint and your comment lends support to my position. You may want to worry that you are not the next casualty as you are now a liability to the company's legal position via your overt support for age discrimination firings! I sure hope you are vocal about this at work as well
I was in the same boat as your husband, a few years more in service. They "appreciate you" until they decide to cut you. I was allowed a 2 week notice to work after I was told..and let me tell ya..you get treated like the plague. No apologies, no good lucks, no direction, nothing. It's like you don't exist. I am much happier in my new job. But just know..all that "staying over" and going above and beyond..gets you nowhere and it doesnt protect you in any way. They will cut you like you never mattered. Managements true colors have been shown and I know I've lost all respect for those that were above me...not simply because my position was cut..but because of how they treat you and "EXILE" you. Shame on you WIndstream management.
Laid off last year, myself. It’s almost like I wrote this. I’m much, much happier, appreciated, spoken to by my leadership with respect and much better benefits and pay. He won’t look back.
I can so relate to this post. Getting laid off by this company was the best thing that ever happened to me. Good luck in y'all's future endeavors.

It’s incredible that you must not think that Biden, along with politicians from both parties, including federal judges, are all in on it!! Why do you think they ask people like TT to be on consulting teams?
Sorry to hear - I also was laid off at 60 plus years of age after 20 plus years with Windstream. I am also taking care of my wife with dementia so unfortunately a bit more of a struggle - but glad your husband is back.
The only solution is to get a unified voice and make the public and politicians know what TT and gang are doing with the taxpayers monies.
If Biden can show public support for UAW strikers who are demanding a 40% wage increase - the Dems sure can do something about this over the top corruption and greed at Windstream taking government money in one hand while constantly skirting of laws and backstabbing the older workers. But I also think life should be fairer too. Expressing concerns for others will prevent you from ever landing a gig in management at Windstream - lacking a soul is a prerequisite.
This post is pathetic. Not realizing that Windstream is simply a company and not a FAMILY is on you and your husband and this is top-tier cringe. Your husband should have had a spine and left years ago if he felt he was so mistreated. Windstream is clearly a horrible corporation and mistreats people but tying your identity so closely to said corporation is incredibly naive. I hope your perspective is changed for future employer relationships. Treat it for what it is, means to an end.
This could be my story but add another 20 years to years of service. I got that same call in March! For years had the same sick feeling on Sunday nights! It is a blessing to be out of that dumpster fire but the resentment is still there. Some days I still sit and think how thankful I am not to have to log on to that computer and figure out all the messes that have been created from all the outsourcing! Hope for the best for you and your husband!
When your sitting around working hard. No pay increase for years. Trying to stay motivated don't forget the top 5 got motivational bonus to do their jobs in 2019 after steering the company into bankruptcy.

The move to Nexxio has been an unmitigated disaster. I'd get it if the goal was to get another quarter or two out of this company and hoping the customers don't figure it out.
There is no long term solution with this outsourcing, and getting the people that were dumped in the RIFs have no interest in coming back to this dump.
What is the point of an employee? To add more value to the business than they cost. The better this is offset, the more the company earns. How are company resources used? To max capacity with profit/cost in mind. That AI and automation you worked on, yeah that one, it was to replace you. Training foreign workers so they can help your overloaded plate? Yeah that wasnt for help. But, you knew that right? If you are still at windstream, stop working hard. Careless. Take more time back.
Welcome to corporate America. Nobody cares and we are all just employee #’s.
Amen! Only 15 years of my life down the drain. The Sunday Scaries are the worst. Never knowing what went down over the weekend that had to be duct taped & bailing wired back together when you walk in.
