Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Future of RF and Area Model

Last year, we moved to an Area Model structure to better utilize resources, but it turns out Jennifer is not a fan of it based on Ulf’s all hands meeting. She mentioned small changes to RF overall but it didn’t sound like any layoffs this year.

Do you think there will be any reduction in RF teams - Region or market?

@1sq1 AI will soon replace RF. Tell me why we need so many humans when AI can retune a network?

Former market rf not performing af as frustrated ops commenter suggested. Left tmo after being shifted to market role and reading the handwriting. Region can support all market activities just as well as market derps with the lowered/ing morals/judgement/expectations of slt and why oh you, the consumer.

Nothing is going to change. This company is going down the drain like a big pile of sh-t! Senior Managers and above don’t give a sh-t about anything besides themselves and have been, and continue to use up the front line while they sit in their offices attending meetings all day doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I’ll say it again, F@CK T-MOBILE

Agree with hold Joe accountable. That fool came up with the ridiculous plan that was set in motion. He ought to be fired.

SWOPS is the easiest to be eliminated entirely. RF and SiteDev can be outsourced due to automation and the ability to ”engineer” from anywhere. Keep FOPS because they maintain the towers in rain, shine, snow, ice, severe weather, imminent danger, grueling traffic, dangerous neighborhoods, and high-pressure situations. FOPS can provide customer facing troubleshooting and problem resolution. Give FOPS a 20% raise.

Market RF was pretty useless before Area Model and still is now. Talking with someone from Verizon about it, they agree with me. They do work there, not play games. I really don't know what they work on all day long except autofellatio. They stopped coming into the office because they know they'd get sh-t on.

“Regarding automation, I agree. We can continue to develop NSO packages and ansible to overcome declining headcount and opex. Time to work smart and develop more shareholder value.”

Spoken like a true executive dbag.

Poster who wrote this,

Move to regional RF, eliminate market RF
Move to regional or outsource SWOPS, eliminate market Switch Techs, use Field Techs as remote hands
Outsource FOPS to E\\\
Outsource SiteDev

This is not an ulf thing. If you look you will see this was a central region thing. Blame this on the regional ops director. This was his d-mb plan.

@1qkj+1tBuhuYe with all the automation in the RF space, can easily shift to more regional focus.

You can’t eliminate Market RF entirely. You need local market knowledge to make the network better.

The Ulf (F that guy) model:

  1. Move to regional RF, eliminate market RF
  2. Move to regional or outsource SWOPS, eliminate market Switch Techs, use Field Techs as remote hands
  3. Outsource FOPS to E\\\
  4. Outsource SiteDev

1 layer of Manager and Director should be eliminated.

We don’t need Manager reporting to Sr. Manager and Director reporting to Sr. Director.

Region at this point make more sense than Market....
Market RF is already very overloaded and the Area level only increased the load with a lot of cross functions and more boxes to be assigned....Dont know anything but layoff EF Market doesnt make any sense right now...specially with a lot of managers doing nothing other than rotate responsabilities...
