HSA paycheck company contributions

For those 65+ in the HSA medical plan. If you have to cancel your HSA contributions 6 months before you begin receiving Medicare, then you are basically giving the company 6 months notice that you will be leaving. Am I right?

Just want to set some minds at ease.

Anything related to your house account health plan is completely separate from your performance data. You need special access to see house account data in any system. Changing your HSA shouldn't need to be a consideration for you. It won't be for them.

Rather than canceling your HSA contributions, ask HR if you can simply pause them for an indefinite period. They shouldn’t ask (and they likely don’t care), but employees run into various financial challenges where they need to use that money elsewhere. When you retire, the HSA money is still yours.

People could cancel their own HSA contributions for any number of personal/financial reasons, so it won't matter. As soon as you do retire, roll that HSA to an HSA at a different institution(like Fidelity for example), and have the HSA bank close your old account once the money exits... Those HSA banks will nickel & dime your account. It's obnoxious.

This company doesn’t plan that far ahead. They can’t properly anticipate industry headwinds, so I doubt there is some great insight this company gets from knowing who is retiring and doing some action around that. Are you afraid they are gonna riff you because that think you’ll be retiring in 6 months?

It’s unlikely of all things that is what they are looking for. Not that you wouldn’t already be on a list to retire ready but they wouldn’t set a trigger to be notified that as someone is planning on leaving.
