Anyone have info for the uhc side? Optum listed the dates
@2a3 same j got laid off today!!
@2py yup got the news today!!!
I was notified today during my 1:1. Based on the timing, it appears my manager had advance notice, as the meeting had been on the calendar for at least a week. Given that I support corporate functions, it seems this is part of broader layoffs. Good luck to everyone that was impacted today.
Optum employee, found out today Friday 1/23 I will be laid off (termination date 2/6). Was told 25% of the company (UHG?) was also laid off.
I've been working at home / for Wellmed for six years now and most on my team are scared of layoffs. I just know I can only control what I can and there I get calls as I'm sure everyone does for 6 month to a year contracts on a daily basis. If worse comes to worse I'll get on my wife's insurance and take a contract.
@1vy And they have close to 50 million members in the US. So let's do some math here. 1 million divided by 50 million is 2%. Laying off 100K out of 400K employees is 25%. I'm no math genius, but cutting a quarter of your workforce for a 2% membership drop is not only stupid, but would put the company nearly out of business. Hence my conclusion that you're a troll who doesn't know anything and merely enjoys scaring people for his own amusement.
@1vy The more I read from you, the more convinced I am that you're a piece of sh-t who's trying to scare everyone unnecessarily 🤔
@1q8 yes they are letting go of that many. Employee ratio is based on membership not who they serve. UHG lost 1 million members this year. You know that, right? 😏
@1q6 He or she is a liar. They're not laying off 25% of the entire company. That would be 100,000 people. If they were really doing that, more than this putz would know about it.
@1p3 Do you mean that 25% of the company will be laid off next week, or across the next few months?
And are you saying it’s inaccurate that the date was moved from 1/22 to 1/23?
@1p3 I think you're full of cr-p
I wish they would offer the voluntary resignation program again, as I believe a lot of people with tenure would accept this.
Again I will tell you to be prepared. It IS going to be 25% of the entire company and the timeline is 100% accurate other than they moved the first date at Optum to the 23rd. All of the rest of the dates on the Optum layoff page are accurate for the rest of the entire UHD company and it’s based on division of those dates. So this has nothing to do with Optum – it has to do with UHG as a hole. They also already submitted the war notice in 2025 in December.
It’s 25% ALL of UHG-not just Optum. They start the 22nd with other areas of UHG including UHC getting cut with the timeline posted on Optum Layiffs.
Workers from Optum get laid off A LOT. It's not safe AT ALL to work for Optum. lol.
I've heard that UHN and Advocacy/ Operations has to make some cuts. Not sure the validity of this though.
@e0 I'm sure it has been accurate a lot, but it's not 100%. And this website's credibility seems suspect at times
@bb that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Stocks always soar on restructuring and cost cutting. They would want to reap that “good” news. Maybe they just want to stick to hiring local yokels though.
@az this site has been historically pretty accurate with that kind of information
@ak they don't actually. WARN notice if more than a certain % from one office require notice. They stay below those numbers to stay out of the press.
I would be skeptical of this. Someone just happens to leak the exact dates of layoffs? I'm not buying it
Those sound departmental in nature. Massive layoffs require WARN notices when cutting 50+ at one HQ.
I have no insight, but I’d imagine it’s the same as Optum
