My team got hit. Me, another senior architect and my manager!
Been here for 3 years. They mentioned "financial struggles".
FYI, I'm on the I.T. side working with Epic.

@1py 200 million grant to Sharp could have serviced millions in our community, instead it will be used to ki-l thousands of them :(
@x2 Sharp fell short 2 million on their budget so they had to let go 80 people. Planned Parent was just gifted 200 million by Gavin Newsom for their campaign contributions. Perhaps Sharp should start playing that pay-play political game to stay ahead, seems the only way to win in California is to cheat.
@f0 As a patient (non-employee) I find this very upsetting to know that my personal information is in the hands of contractors in another country like India or China. This is very disturbing to me.
@f3 Sharp didn't make any contributions to his campaign, so no goodies for them.
@s9 You're exactly right - no more free lunch from Uncle Sam. Also, their new fancy EMR costed more than what they initially expected and put them way over budget, they should of just kept the old one - it does the same thing at a fraction of the cost.
@q9 The provider reimbursement cuts from the big beautiful bill have specifically been cited as the primary reason for revenue losses necessitating job cuts. Say what you will, there is a direct link between the current White House and these job cuts.
Also as a Healthcare employee you surely know that EMTALA requires hospitals to treat patients regardless of immigration status or ability to pay.
@mj Healthcare is getting hit hard. Family back east just got laid off. Been working at hospital for over 25 years.
Don't trust Sharp! They'll cut you off eventually!!!
@nm whatever is left of MAGA is a cult! Those mo--ns probably believed Trump when he said the Epstein files was a hoax or that Trump was a FBI informant 🤡😂
@mj basically Sharp treats uninsured illegal aliens and the gets compensated by the government to cover it, once that government teet dried up, they had to make some cuts.
Even with the rise of AI, we would’ve still had jobs if Trump didn’t fu-k it all up!
@m1 Federal Medicaid cuts, lower reimbursement rates, expiring ACA subsidies, and new dr-g pricing pressures are reducing revenue. Also, fewer insured patients and tighter government payments. Read up on the big beautiful bill and how Sharp makes money, and it will make sense
Sharp leadership are a bunch of jackoffs !!
They ruined what used to be a great organization and now it's a complete dumpster fire! No wonder why John McManus left. He was privy to information the rest of didn't have by virtue of his position and wised up and left.
"The Sharp Experience"...yeah right...total joke now
@k6 Yes very odd. The healthcare sector is doing well and was the biggest creator of jobs last quarter, so I don't understand why Sharp is eliminating positions.
@kd There are still plenty of people from last one still looking for work. I'm one of them. I'm fighting hundreds if not more for the same position. More organizations continue to lay people off.
All very upsetting. Looking to jump ship to Scripps to receive care. What does the future hold for Sharp.
looking at the latest jobs report, these folks should have no problem finding work.
@k8 Blame the union for seeking a wage increase for the nurses. Cuts had to be done somewhere to balance the band increases for the nurses.
@k6 After the last layoff, the assured everyone that this was it and that there would be no more layoffs. So now there is a lot of distrust with those that are still left.
I'm only hearing of Sharp repeatedly laying folks off. Other places seem to be doing fine or perhaps very minimal layoffs.
Doesn't that sound strange to any of you? Or is Sharp just that deep in the red financially and is incompetent?
@k4 No additional since Monday which was 80 people. This is a tough financial climate, especially for healthcare. :(
Any more layoffs???
How are the Sharp Epic teams handling the change?
Sorry for those who lost their jobs, dont give up you are all talented SMEs stay positive something better is out there for you!
@fg we want names! :D It's anonymous! Expose them!
@fb I agree, very top heavy. My manager been with Sharp for a long time and is lazy! Makes really good money for providing very little value.
Sharp is too top heavy with administration. Maybe they should start cutting there too. Too many managers, directors, VPs, etc. I’ve work at other healthcare systems that didn’t have all these different admins.
Sorry to all- I believe it is the insurance as well they aren't paying claims, reimbursing as much.
Ok if Trump won't do something then the State of California needs to get involved!
Where are you at Gavin Newsom?! How are you allowing this behavior!
Regardless of who's fault it is, there are still 80+ people out of work because of this and it has been uncovered that sharp health care is now outsourcing their patient data to 3rd party vendors in other countries. This is really disturbing
sharp healthcare outsourcing medical information sounds like a bad idea to me. It's no wonder health care companies get their data compromised all the time.
I heard that they started a new pay band scheme for everyone which increased there payroll expense, now they are having to make cuts as a result.
@em this is what unions ultimately do to the companies they work for.
I believe these cuts were made to make up for the increases they gave clinical nurses. Nurses got their raises at the expense of others
@ee the previous leadership team (Bill Spooner, et al) would have never allowed this to happen, they would have found better ways to deal with this. sharing patient records with other countries is not good business imo.
@ee it sounds like their leadership has tunnel vision at the moment and trying to cut as much as possible without realizing what they are doing. Exposing their customer's data to adversarial states is a huge risk, its only a matter of time before patient data is stolen and put up for sale.
Offshoring! If it doesn't make money it doesn't make $ense according to Sharp Leadership. They don't care about the ramifications! They'll just move on! They are contracting through 3rd party vendors like Cardamom and others for offshore talent. Boycott Sharp! Hire America FIRST! Trump really needs to do something about this!
@ec This is the first time I've heard of clinical people being laid off. Within IT they are outsourcing a lot of their work overseas and exposing their patient's data to questionable countries.
-"Fired/layed off"->> more in Rehab services as well. What is going on? Any explanation from leadership?
@c4 with thousands of offshore workers from India and China with access to all their patient data, its just a matter of time before they have a data breach and most of their customer's data will end up on the dark web for a price.
Im sorry to those who got let go. They let go of half my team.
