Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

The calm before the storm

Hearing TM'S being forced to write up all low performers to force people out. Hearing metrics being raised in effort to be able to write employees up to force out. Heard one department under P&C said future state was no wfh, only move, quit, or retire. Heard 3 years left for wfh. Hearing all kinds of ai rumors and that express going away. Hearing some TM'S encouraging employees to leave company for a different one. Yet no one knows anything for sure. No one knows how long they will have a job in all areas wfh. All that is known for sure is that they are making the metrics so that they cannot be achieved. And the misery continues and yet the employees hang on by the last thread in hopes of a severance package.

Wow. SIX “hearing” references in one post. You got one thing right though—nobody knows.

@1ph agreed, they have to hire 10 employees just to keep 2 for a few years. The problem with trying to get rid of WFH is the brain drain in claims. It takes a couple of years to get proficient handling claims and we lose them before that ever happens. The training new claims employees gets is sh--e compared to what we used to do for new employees. I have literally seen SF claims department go from the envy of the industry to the shell of what it is today.

I literally create extra work so I can have more to complete and hit whatever metrics they come up with. If they ask for it I'll find it or invent it.

I can agree that they would like to do away with wfh but I don't think they will ever be able to hire enough in the hubs to accomplish that.

@1ej. Very true. Been there, done that, seen that, and without a doubt it is coming again. Why pay a remote TM, CS, or a CA who is above midpoint to milk the system? It's coming and it's just a matter of time. Learn how to communicate outside a laptop.

If I were WFH/remote with long tenure I’d be scared right now. I wasn’t thrilled but got relo to a hub about 2 years ago. I feel like WFH/remote only could be gone very soon.

They got you right where they want you. You were put in these states for their labor laws. I just hope they do same for the wfh. They are way overpaid. My premiums need to go down. Too much dead weight at SF.

Every week (and nearly every day) there seems to be another push to change metrics or expectation for claims in Express right now. It's pretty clear that they are gearing up to drop associates like flies. No more warnings, TMs are being advised that you will receive a drop file if coached on any behavior.

Express going away, or at the very least not existing in the same state it does today, is credible. Plans are just not finalized.
Could be a complete outsource.

This is mostly true. The SMs were told by the VPOs in February that the company can lose 5 to 10% of its workforce. Sounds like a class action is on the horizon.

Agree with all except stupid to hang on waiting for severance pkg. No reason to WFH anymore. Not cost effective. Continue to keep an open mind as to how they can cut costs. Employee costs are the highest costs. Just like Fed, more can be done with less. The system will highlight those areas and some of those OP is spot on.
