Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Why did you come here?

Of course, I applied because I thought this company was much better than it actually is. I regretted missing the opportunity at another company because of DXC, thinking that everything would get better once I get used to the atmosphere here. That never happened. The reason that also prompted me to apply here is that I thought I would be able to expand my skillset significantly. Big mistake!

I came to HP as part of an outsourcing deal. The first years were pretty exciting. Great company culture, interesting projects, regular pay rises.
HP became HPE and then DXC.

I stay because I learned that I don't have to work too hard to get my money. If they don't increases my salary even though there is inflation, I find ways to compensate other ways.
And to be honest, I stay because of the people I work with. No matter what account or prioject, you always find a few fantastic people. It's that mix of skills, sense of humor and probably a shared experience of Stockholm syndrome.

I came to CSC 15 years ago as a contractor 1st and then as a full time employee when they said they wouldn't renew my contract. I came because my last company outsourced but not to DXC and I needed a job to pay my bills. As a contractor I made a bundle with all the overtime and ended up with a cut in pay to come on full time, but didnt have a choice

Agree: @1peo+1btTRVtE - so true, was bad when our company was absorbed by CSC years ago and with Lawrie's leadership - extremely bad; no pay rises, no promotion, people being sacked for any reason (if your face didn't fit), endless WFR, using contracts and offshoring work to lower cost centres.

Hiring off pen pushing wet boy managers - not knowing anything about IT or how to do their jobs

Same story with Lawrie with DXC before I was canned - fudge up scoring and seems like little / no progress to improve company by SAL

@1oep+1btTRVtE: That was my story, too. Came in via acquisition, with lots of big announcements. Then as the toxic DXC culture and practices overtook what was once a great company, it died.

There's just no upside in working for a company like this. You might gain some experience, but in the meantime you'll see all that is good in your life crushed out of existence. It's just not worth it.

A friend put it this way:

Clueless
Leadership
Ended
A
Really good company.

No, it is a bad place even for the short term. I enjoyed my first 6 months and felt like I was providing value. Then it became clear my unit had no appetite to improve anything. The only focus was sales, but they refused to make any changes that would improve sales. Once that was clear to me I headed to the exit. Last I checked the DXC web site, the products I worked on are no longer on the DXC web site. And BTW, DXC (or CSC) paid a lot of money to acquire the business. Big press releases. The whole deal. End result was to destroy the business.

as responded to in numerous other replies, its not a bad place for 18 months - 2 years to get some early experience as a grad, or a place to hang in there doing the absolute minimum if you're close to retirement - otherwise a big mistake to be here or stay here
