Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Leadership 404 error...

Centene used to be a great place to work. Leaving was a difficult decision for me at the time. Former colleges have been keeping me up to date on the internal affairs of Centene. What a joke. Sarah London is nothing short of a CEO disaster! She has DEI fever and is running the company straight into the ground.

Centene is diverse and they proudly lead with that alot...but what are the average income in those largely diverse populations? I would bet it's lower in the industry. So it feels like a way for them to look good in DEI metrics but I also think its exploiting and demeaning .....they should brag about employee satisfaction along with salary transparency.

Same for the org chart from what I see, friends hiring friends. Friends promoting friends. Lol

The org chart is Drew's friends, untouchable but mediocre to the bone. DEI hires( including the CEO) are just a bunch of talk but not action, and some HUM implants that the prior COO, James Murray, brought in, Just a corrupt and poorly run company. All the good operators are out, because they are not a " cultural fit", or they are not prior WellCare Drew's friends. How do you expect this company will do any better? No way

If you kindly check your org charts, even for the former employees, come back to this post and please explain what DEI has changed… Im not here to defend or criticize DEI but would like to understand what you are seeing across the organization in real time. Then come back and defend your opinions.

Yeah on my former team the DEI meant layoff the white males on the team and not anyone else. 37 people in the role, 3 were white males all let go!

Centene never had a problem with DEI; the fact that " leadership" is trying to say this was an issue is very hypocritical and suspicious; it seems a way to keep people entertained as if they care while they hide mediocrity and layoff people in a private room in a very clumsy way, to the point they are cutting their way to operate, people are pi---d because the core business problem of the company is not getting address and those who are trying to do a good job it does not seem that matter and that being a "good cultural fit" is more important, the politics are just nasty, it is like we are in that lalala place telling stories while the top pocket millions and the company falls apart, just a recipe for disaster.

Is it causing resentment because DEI hasn’t made an impact? Im just curious to know what the goals of DEI and why its not supported. I see the emails, but how long or what is being done to change the culture? Just trying to understand what provoked the negativity of the DEI initiatives.

Sarah has done things worse certainly; a very reckless way to run a company; I am surprised she is still there. Nothing seems to get traction in CNC. Medicare Stars did a bit of an improvement in 2022, but rumors have it that it is in decline again because of a disastrous decision in 2023 in the quality team that was trying to move the needle; it is very political and to the thread, very true Centene has always been a diverse company, Neidorf had that as a priority, but the way they are handling " the culture" and " DEI" is very political and sickening, is causing more harm and resentment among people than good. Unfortunately, the place will not get better anytime soon until they have someone who is engaged and goes a few levels down to work with people who are trying to fix things instead of a CEO and a CFO who are just jetting, giving speeches far from reality.

Why don't you just admit that it's not actually about the services and job we were hired to do but only about money grabbing DEI incentives that this company cares about anymore? I know it's a hard pill to swallow and completely destroys the reality you choose to live in. It wouldn't matter what was required of them they would throw every single one of those people they claim to want to be inclusive and all that other horsehit under the bus and you know it. And they have. It's no wonder they are failing miserably with Medicaid and STARS ratings. Focused on the WRONG things period.

Sarah is certainly no MFN. But your callout of “DEI fever” is particularly telling; why don’t you just say what you really WANT to say?
