tech location strategy

for anyone that was asked/told to move to a hub location: now that they've announced back to office in September plans, are you being asked to relocate by then or any updates on the process from anyone in the know? Seems like SVB has gone a little back and forth on the whole thing at least publicly. any reliable insights are appreciated.

I’m not an employment attorney, but I would guess that WF would continue to offer severance for those who don’t take relocation. WF is effectively moving the position to a new city.

Since they cant find people to apply in the designated core location, more than likely it will be cancelled till they move to vendor supported. Just my guess

Prior to Covid, those targeted for relocation were to be given a bonus to use toward the expense and be at their new office by October 2020. If they opted to separate they would get the standard severance. I saw the packages offered to a couple technology people. Then SVB announced it was cancelled last April for obvious pandemic reasons. He never said it wouldn't return. But are the relocation bonuses and severance part of the deal this time around?

Doesnt look like Covid is going away, hey are talking about a third booster; also they are saying the world probably wont have it until 2023 due to poor countries; seems like this will be here for the near future (covid)

@1okb+1aouBL0r yep! and can pretty much guarantee most of those consultants are not at a hub or even working together in ONE location.

thought i heard in the rumor mill Charlie was going to drop the location strategy. sounds plausible, since the ppl he probably wants to bring on aren’t in these locations

they are getting consultants and vendors to do all the cloud work so it doesnt get f'd , and app work, security too. They want to get things current but almost impossible with current management and staff. They need a qualified workforce, but doing it with vendors who have the experience already.

Couldn't forcing relocations [and hoping most people won't agree] be considered a cost-saving alternative to laying more people off [and thus having to pay severance]? You not agreeing to relocate is along the same signs of tendering resignation, no?

I doubt anyone has any insights. They are keeping it hush hush. Glad I’m out of technology now.
