Same story — after all VS / Exceptional Ratings and promotions, I was given the heads up from my manager that I was going to receive a BS / PIP at MY. I immediately produced comprehensive documentation (compiled dated and timestamped events, feedback, emails, slack conversations and audio recordings) that contradicted all the feedback and justification that the manager provided, and shared with my manager that I would happily take this to HR, AR, and/or my lawyer. Less than a week later instead of receiving a BS/PIP, I was offered a role elimination severance package (exponentially higher). Folks —- always be on offense, not defense. Know that politics matter and you must CYA. You must advocate for yourself —- when the rubber hits the road, no one else will. Stay strong, and proactively seek roles elsewhere with non-toxic, non-cult-like cultures. There are thousands of better opportunities. You’ve got this!
