After 19 consecutive of very strong, exceptional reviews, i was put on a pip.
The platforms i’ve created have enabled many people to get promoted including members of my management. This is shocking but it’s all good. God is in control. Good Luck everyone

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Same story — after all VS / Exceptional Ratings and promotions, I was given the heads up from my manager that I was going to receive a BS / PIP at MY. I immediately produced comprehensive documentation (compiled dated and timestamped events, feedback, emails, slack conversations and audio recordings) that contradicted all the feedback and justification that the manager provided, and shared with my manager that I would happily take this to HR, AR, and/or my lawyer. Less than a week later instead of receiving a BS/PIP, I was offered a role elimination severance package (exponentially higher). Folks —- always be on offense, not defense. Know that politics matter and you must CYA. You must advocate for yourself —- when the rubber hits the road, no one else will. Stay strong, and proactively seek roles elsewhere with non-toxic, non-cult-like cultures. There are thousands of better opportunities. You’ve got this!
How come the top dude is not getting fired? Even after The stock is down ytd? How come the pip isn’t applying to the top dudes. Secondly in 2023 All the top dudes are selling stock not buying ! They sold most when the price was 112 to 115+. And now selling at 100+.the remaining balance. Bbw ycome we folks at bottom of the food chain didn’t get the insight that we should sell now?
Now they are denying FMLA claims-hoping to wear you down.
@huj+1pv8Jycb 29 years is ridiculous. They literally helped build the company. Cap One is only 30 something years old.
I 100% agree with the ageism. I worked for the company 20+ years and was going on mid 40s. I’m also female. So the sh-t older men would NEVER be coached on, you better believe became my “opportunity” and I was threatened with a CP and PIP. As much as I wanted to wait it out, my mental health couldn’t and I left on my own. THE BEST decision for my mental health and myself ever was leaving Cap One. I don’t understand how somebody hasn’t looked into this company on a more broad basis, such as a news station or some thing, because there is so much feedback about how toxic the culture is, and how they not only allow but HR is complicit in racism, ageism and harassment, and bullying.
Agism is real at Cap1. Several coworkers including myself across organizations went from very strong or strong performance to inconsistent during mid year cross cal for the first time since being with the company, without any warning or feedback until mid year. What we all have in common is that we are 45 and up and have been with the company between 15 - 30 years. Some were fortunate to get severance and others were let go because of "performance" no severance after mid year July August September and October layoffs and I'm sure more layoffs is coming. Make sure your resume ready and start applying for jobs and networking outside of Cap1 now and do not wait if your current rating is inconsistent or on PIP. Be proactive and not reactive especially if you are in your 40s and up.
I also heard they are doing performance layoffs to build up Mexico. They can hire more for less. They did this years ago with all the Wipro.
Don’t think performance will protect you. You need political cover as well to survive. Laid off recently myself. Top results and all that. The only thing they were not brave to do was put me on pip.
Sounds about right. I had a multi-decade career and got exceptional and very strong consistently for many years but as I got older, my rating went to strong even though I was doing better work and getting results far outside my department. Finally my rating was an inconsistent. My work was a strong as ever, but my age was showing. They essentially told me that I was too old. I resigned. If there was ever a company that was a practitioner of age discrimination, this is it.
So the poster is obviously in a tech role. Everything and everyone that CIO Rob Alexander touches is a disaster. But the stack rankings are mandated from that red headed fake crying CEO and the HR head weetch. Entire board should be fired for dereliction of duties.
You will get an option to go through with a PIP or get go. You demand they let you go and give you severance period. You'll likely fail the PIP because you've been setup to fail alreany. Always ask for money and having them pay your Cobra continuation.
You accuse them of bias and discrimination and that you believe you've
been targeted. Use your age, gender, race, color, caste, religion, s-xual orientation, and disability when you accuse them of wrongdoing and demand they give you severance period!!
If you get PIP, do you get severance after the PIP 60 days is up?
Don't agree to a PIP demand they let you go and ask for severance including costs for coveting Cobra insurance!!!! And if you're in 1 of the ten states below demand home office costs like Internet costs etc. They have to pay or be sued.
Those SoaBs are evil, sadistic, unethical, and greedy thieves.
To the original poster if it came down to thar demand and ask for more severance than what they're offering including payout and Cobra for healthcare continuation.
If you are in these states
ten states (and Washington D.C.) currently have laws requiring employers to reimburse employees for certain remote work expenses: California, Washington D.C., Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota. You are to demand they pay for your Internet access or cost of using a cell phone.
C1 can be used and pay millions of damages for not paying these costs required by law.
When they PIP out good employees instead of normal layoffs, they are saying they never want you to be able to come back, too when Bidenomics fades . Thanks for nothing
That is crazy! Sorry to hear that! But you're right - God is in control! Everyone reaps what they sow!
They are targeting older more experienced employees. Someone I worked with that was here for 29 years….got let go. They are making room for Mexico.
What org and job family are you in?
