Been interviewing ENGINE applicants for IT and FE roles, 90% of our offers are being rejected due to poor compensation. Upper management was sold on a false premise of slave labor in India and I hope it is realized externally.

@6rat, you're correct that the price of anything did not go negative under uncle Joe, all products went up across the board. About blaming the current CVX conundrum that you're in today on the climate 8 years ago why stop there and not blame it on obumbo while you're making stuff up. Or just blame it on future events that you have no idea about, makes as much sense, lol
Not EY’s metric. It’s actually AS’s 2025 PMP. Number of roles filled. Worst metric ever.
I guarantee the metric EY is being held to is the number of roles filled, with no consideration given as to the quality of the hire.
Chevron is terrible at defining and measuring good metrics, which drives undesirable behaviors and outcomes.
Chevron will fill all the spots. The quality of those filling the spots will be the issue.

Yep, we all had a good laugh when we found out they could work remotely from another country, but those “remote” individuals couldn’t work from home.
Same experience with interviewing ENGINE candidates. The qualified ones are flat out refusing Chevron’s offer, on the grounds of money and also because hybrid is not being offered. To compound matters further, most candidates aren’t even interested in Chevron per se…they are interviewing because they received a call from a recruiter and are testing things out to see what Chevron will offer. The whole thing is very predictable. Top management thinks there is a line of people just waiting to work for nickels and are shocked that isn’t the case.
"Backshoring" is also happening, you just won't see case studies because a large number of executives would need to admit they were mistaken.

If ENGINE is anything like the track record for Chevron’s MCP, the budget will explode, full implementation will be delayed several years, and it won’t deliver on expectations.

The lack of critical studies on offshoring to India stems largely from the dominance of narratives created by consulting firms and Indian companies, both of which have vested interests in portraying offshoring as a cost-effective and strategic solution. These incestuous stakeholders fund research that highlights success stories while downplaying challenges like wage stagnation, cultural differences that negate cost benefits, and data security risks. Independent academic research, which could provide a different picture just has no possible source of funding.
@1ncx, that’s exactly the situation. Add to that American students also have to compete with the rest of the world for a spot at American universities. It’s almost like government and corporate leaders don’t have the best interests of their citizens and employees in mind.

Don’t get some of the jobs they are posting. Some of them have very specific and local requirements that are best done locally. I mean you CAN do them elsewhere, but it is more effective doing it here.
Permitting for instance technically can be done anywhere…but the people I’ve talked to at the State level are already fed up with Chevron staff rotating so frequently….imagine their frustration when they are not talking to people locally.
Talking with friends and neighbors at Exxon, they all scoff at the fact that Chevron is following their lead on the BTC office, and every single one mentions how difficult it is to deal with the high rate of turnover. Even the ones we manage to hire will be gone in a heartbeat to Shell of Exxon for 5% more in 6 months. It’s all a scam perpetrated by the consulting firm and our Indian leaders
By the time this is completed, we'll be using AI to replace this "cheap" labor. The only difference is, the AI work will be decent quality

Can you imagine being from India but on US payroll, and then spending the next 3-5 years back in your home country getting all the expat benefits. Wow what a scam.
