Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

How many have quit since January 2023?

Does State Farm still have the highest turnover rate in the United States?

Looking at the majority of posts on this page, it looks like State Farm is still one of the worst places to work in the country. Have enough people quit to the point State Farm finds themselves in an even bigger mess?

@6avm The only way someone could say what you say is anonymous. You sure wouldn't say it to my face in my house. It would be a "stand your ground/Castle Doctrine" case. Speaks volumes as to who you are.

@5mfk. You discount labor. Typical pencil pusher who sells nothing they produce. Remember, it was all agreed to. Mommy and daddy paid for your college tuition too? SF gives you nothing! You earn it PERIOD!

@5kny....I paid into the system before you were 1/1000 of your daddys squirt. No one including the govt gave me jack sh*t! You need to grow up. Only 3 days PSL in well over 30 years to boot. No! SF gave me nothing. You sell ignorance.

@5pdr-whivh employees did not agree to take a pension? You act as if you negotiated it and it wasn’t a fringe benefit. And you didn’t “earn social security” you made a mandatory contribution which was less than what SF made on your behalf, Your 401k was managed and invested by SF at virtually no cost, It appears you are the delusional one or just plain simple….

@5oft. SF did NOT give me a pension. It was agreed to at the time I was hired and it was part of the compensation agreement. If you think SF gives you anything you are delusional. I worked for every penny I have. Not a soul gave me anything. Its nice to get 3 pensions, 2 social securities, and a super nice 401K. Your jealousy, anger, and paranoia are obvious by the way you express yourself. If you used that energy to work, you may be able to retire.

@5wbs-thanks for reinforcing and demonstrating my point that you are the most miserable retiree in history living a miserable existence. The fact your only joy is hanging out on this site all day and posting on virtually every topic just illustrates the depth of your misery. Btw, SF did give you a pension-you paid nothing into that, zero. And don’t tell me you earned it. Lots of people work much harder got paid less in other jobs and received no,pension-let alone other benefits. You got lucky.

I wouldnt say its the worst place to work by a long shot. Its still a stable and reasonably paying career if you can get beyond entry level.

Problem is the work is very boring, very difficult, and requires a LOT of knowledge about the industry. Most think its better/easier to just bail for a generic call center job for a dollar less an hr.

It will remain an underpaid, over worked position that few will want to stick with, up until theyve justified offshoring the work.

@4obc You are the epitome of wrong. Since I retired, I get more done by the time you get out of bed than you do in one day. I still work 14 to 16 hours a day sometimes 6 days a week. I have, because I worked for it. Jealous much? Do you get in peoples faces and scream at the ones who work. You are a pathetic selfish rotten spoiled brat. I worked for whatever I decide to do in retirement. SF didn't give me one thing. I worked for it and can do whatever the eff I want in retirement that is again none of your effn business. My life is my choice not yours. I chose to live when and where I want and believe in what I want. No person, business, nor government can dictate to me how I live my life. I'm sorry my freewill bothers you so why don't you go live in your safe space with all the weirdos similar to you and leave me the eff alone.

Tipstards gits to go before its too late. Under any measure his job performance is not only failure its malfeasance.

Insanity is allowing another person or organization to beat you down. Some learn it early and some learn it later. SF definitely beats the worker down.

@1mxe Not that everyone and situation is the same, I will say that a manger told me “there’s nothing I can do unless it’s an ADA” or FMLA. If you aren’t free to address legit and reasonable concerns that are part of life, don’t be surprised when a disability is disclosed.

I'm speaking as someone who had gone through the HCL rebadging.

This is probably the best idea that management has made.

Most will agree that the "historical" culture at state farm was one where a few people did the work while others sat around and did very little.

HCL will not allow that culture to continue. Yes, the will honor the contract for the required year, but after that, the people who sat around doing nothing will either learn to work, or they will be shown the door.

I've seen people on my team who have done NOTHING for years finally decide they need to learn how to do their jobs.

Productivity will rise and dead weight will be let go, which state farm was always unwilling to do.

Plain and simple it's a doggy dog world, and the same could be said within State Farm. I keep my head low and focus on my controllables while making sure I stay competitive and continuing to learn as much as possible. Leadership in my area sucks ballz as they act like they care for people. They give 2 sh!ts and lack any leadership qualities while at the same time lying directly in your face, but hey just like they use you use them. I'm sure there are good mangers and supervisors in certain departments but in mines I have never been around more incompetent people.

As a TM there is definitely turnover. I wish we could change the approach a bit. Pay more to start so folks value their job and want to stay. Instead we go as cheap as we can and get sh-t a-s people who want to play games and fu-k around and when they get caught they claim a disability…just a mess. Pay more - get higher quality candidates who care.
