I know right to work state, but I have never seen this in a "professional" environment, sometimes no PIP is even issued.

I have hear SO many horror stories on this. Never have I heard more stories than from USAA. If your manager don’t like you, you’re gone. HR will only say “manager discretion”
Anyone stating there's, "Thousands of happy employees" is being paid to say that. Rona ki-led this place along with the cleaner to offshore and Automate 80% of everything and get a fat bonus while doing so... its already happening... you're just not paying attention or up high enough so the umbrellas don't envelope you.
Leave if you don’t like USAA. There is no shortage for workers and there are thousands of happy employees here.
Well, Wayne basically said Tami (the CHRO) was a lame duck at the Enployee Meeting. So she is not going to do ANYTHING to fix things.
Thats not the point I was making. Of course, alot of companys are "at will" but USAA now has a reputation for firing people just to get rid of them. Sick
They have been in business for over 100 years, I am sure by now they have picked up on a thing or two and have perfected their craft.
This is the way they operate, especially now since they (like other employers) believe they have the upper hand. Seems that some "leaders" (ESPECIALLY in ECIO) have learned this method of mismanagement quite well. They hand out PIPs like candy. The pendulum will swing back in the other direction to more of an employee market and then they will be crying because they can't fill jobs. It is certainly no way to treat people, but they obviously don't care.
Same model at other financial institutions, drop the last 15% and keep costs down via forced rankings. https://www.aihr.com/hr-glossary/forced-ranking/
In legal/technical terms: Something in the buttermilk ain't clean.
It’s an at-will workplace. You nor the company owe nothing. If you have a job offer, you can legit don’t even have to give 2 week notice.
