Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

We need more people

If those at the top don't realize that this company urgently needs more people, I think they will lose a lot of those who are still here. It's become unbearable to work here because we are so understaffed.
I don't plan to keep doing a triple workload for a long time. It seems that the lack of people is the last thing on their minds?

They realize it, they just don't care. You see less employees doing double work for the same pay means more in their pockets. They are not as d-mb as you think they are.

Announcement of the ILEC spin off is coming. With that announcement they will move
some employees around and other will be let go as part of the sale. Most let go won't be directly related to the sale, it's just an excuse.

I look back at all of the solid people that I worked with in the NOC starting in 2000's. The quality of people just isn't there today. Either we can't get them to interview or people do their homework and lose interest.

And yet, there are rumblings of either a layoff or preparing to sell.

If you make your call center as fun and rewarding as McDonald’s - you get McDonald’s employees coming in and the old employees either give up or move on.
We used to have a repair NOC. Now it’s just a knock knock joke.

We have an identity problem. I'm sure we have talent recruiters that can't get past the initial reach. People do their homework and see a bankrupt company. No exciting technology like working at Google or Tesla. Low scores on Glassdoor and negative feedback here. Shrinking customer base and dated technology.

I've been through the mergers, I've been the team lead, I'm done!
The integrations have gone soo poorly and people are spent.

To make matters worse we hired someone from the "do not hire back " list
Because we need people. What does that say? Beyond desperation at this point.

There is no draw to start a career at windstream.

They don't care about your workload. You should already know that.

Ah yes, the Team Lead….
The no money increase position, created by managers to ride employees, while the manager enjoys a cup of coffee, a smoke, and a conversation with their grandchildren.

If you are overworked, that’s on you. Win nurtures a culture where 20% of the employees do 80% of the work. Slow down, or stop producing altogether. They won’t get rid of you, trust me.

But who would WANT to work there? A lot of positions have team leads and managers riding your back all day. Sweat shop with too big a workload to handle, esp while being micromanaged like a teenager at McDonald's
