Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

How do people stay for 40 or 50 years?

Just curious: I have seen work anniversaries for 40 or 50 years at DXC. If you say that people only get a 1% increase every 5 years then are we saying that these people are on the same salaries of the 1990s and they are happy with that?

If I joined 40 years ago on 30,000 USD a year then by the way DXC does merit my salary in 2024 would only be 70,000 USD. So how can these people be happy on that!?

40 or 50 years? They didnt! DXC hasnt existed that long! thankfully
(They were outsourced with better terms and conditions)
Many like me have a reasonable company pension and where else would you get that?

There is a b-m in internal IT that has been lazing around for 42 plus years hanging on to couple of legacy cr-ppy systems - people call him Charles the emperor!

Worked for 5 companies in IT, and with a dozen different industry solutions. The diversity kept it interesting with ever increasing challenges and responsibilities. Never quit or was fired. Had a great career helping clients maximize IT solutions for business benefit. Last 4 years of my career was the worst in DXC. I tried to help but just too many d-mb decisions.

@1ktd+1w1ahNRf DXC is stupid. I hear people who are down right incompetent and haven't done a useful days work in years got a rise, while people with skills did not. It's managers making the point that the pay review was nothing to do with performance.

Most people transfer in from outsourcing deals. They did their time in a previous org. DXC went bad about 10 years back. People either leave quickly or wait out redundancy or retirement. DXC has no carrots, but also no sticks. We're all told to shut up, and do the mandatory paperwork. Nothing else seems important. Certainly not delivering world class IT.

@bbg+1w1ahNRf. DXC would be stupid yo give you VR and pay out a years salary with you doing nothing. They can wait you out and have you quit or retire

Everyone is different, for me it's inertia.
Plus kept getting my VR application rejected due to being needed.
