Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Could Oracle be more pathetic?

Oracle is pathetic. I got promoted and got a 2% raise after exceeding expectations in my role for a number of years, while that was happening I was interviewing elsewhere because I had enough and accepted and signed without even considering oracles response. I got to experience my whopping 2% for 1 pay cycle. To think the amount of knowledge, skills and experience walked out the door and I am young, skilled up and had a resilient attitude. I am starting over again at a competitor and not looking back.

It seems that this company is best at driving away all talented people?

Oracle mgmt is at an all time low. It is the popular kids club and if you’re not on your knees for them, no soup for you. I spent years working for managers in my GBU who never left cause no one else wanted them cause they are useless. Ironically most are white men…I’m a white man but these guys didn’t know first thing about tech. As for your raise, oracle doesn’t care to even give raises. I got the best annual raise I’ve ever gotten in 2021….by leaving.

Your comp may have already been too high to allow for much more. You sound like someone who negotiated a good deal upfront. Besides, your higher rank means more RSUs in July if you outperform.

If you were worth more someone else would have given you a bigger offer by now.

There are an awful lot of salty people on this post! Wonder if they are all members of a failing senior leadership team. Hysterical…

P.s., you are likely to encounter the same elsewhere but Oracle probably is still pathetic.

Failure to value knowledge, experience, talent, etc. is hardly unique to Oracle. You are likely to encounter the same elsewhere.

Could Oracle be more pathetic?

Better late than never I guess, but what is pathetic is how long it took you to realize that you needed to leave. Clearly you are no rocket scientist or brain surgeon but rather an Oracle employee through and through.

In my case, the management was working very deliberately at getting rid of talented people. Don't want anyone knowing what they are up to. Don't want any smart guys around to show them up. Getting rid of the talent is the point. Talented people are dangerous.
