Just when you thought you have heard enough, some belk stores are now having "selling captain" positions. What is this exactly? Well you have the great honor of doing all the work of an STM, Sales Associate, Housekeeping, Visual, Operations, ect...for the great pay rate of $12.00 per hour. Now keep in mind the average STM hired say a few years ago, makes about $45,000, so at $12 you are being paid $25,000 per yr. Who's the first in line for this position?

I took this position and was told it was brand new . I was already in the store and no pay raise. So I am still at 9’dollars an hour. Just double the responsibilities and work. Hopefully it will look good on my resume for a new job when they close. LoL 😂

A great opportunity? No, it's not. If you're performing all the duties of an STM then just be hired and paid as one. And what stepping stone are you talking about? Selling Captain to what? An STM, the job you're already doing? AN MTM, another hourly position which is almost an STM/Selling Captain? I can see Belk completely phasing out the STM position for these selling captains, just as they did Operations Manager.
Selling captains start at $10.25, the max is $14

I thought you were joking until I pulled it up on Indeed and the Belk Careers site. So lemme get this straight:
They're hoping some gullible soul will take this downgraded STM position and work for peanuts, doing everything short of unloading the truck. ( Hmm, that might be in there too)
Our lunches are cut. Hours being culut. Store is a mess. No support on the floor. No regard for customers who come in to shop. No regard for long lines, the mess, etc.
Trying desperately to increase revenue with credit cards and fulfillment.
Not looking good..
