Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

New Job

Has anyone laid off been able to find work? I’ve been having a really hard time landing anything. Every now and then I’ll get an interview but it doesn’t go anywhere. Starting to get worried.

December layoff here (clinical pharmacist that had been loyal to the company for over 5 years). I've had many interviews, and just accepted a better role at United Healthcare this week. Be persistent with applications, try to network, and go into all interviews incredibly prepared- you will find something!

Personally was laid off early 2021 along with 3000 others at Centene. I got hired by a company that reached out to me on LinkedIn, and started a little over three months after I had been fully cut loose. Up your game on LinkedIn. I am seeing more layoffs on there recently and it seems like those folks have been out of work for longer than we were back in 2021. The claims system used at other companies is not the one Centene uses. If you can pick up on Facets, it will be to your advantage.

I haven't been laid off YET or terminated for PIP YET (since it would seem the new CPH & availability metrics have been designed to be unobtainable - hence they can fire w/o getting stuck paying out severance) but I have been applying internally and externally for 2 years now. Got turned down several times for the exact position I am already in for Centene just in a different LOB - then all of a sudden positions I interviewed for that were outside of what I current;y do and were promising somehow they decided that they were removing the role all together. Externally is a joke - lots of places want X amount of years of experience & degrees for "entry level positions" starting you at $15 or $17 hour. I do not get paid what I should for having 7+ years of experience. It's like being trapped inside a box. I don't know about anyone else but I cannot afford a pay cut and I am barely making it as it is. Add to that the amount of people now looking for the same kind of work because they have been laid off - and not just Centene folks. I know several friends of mine that work for other health insurance companies that have laid off tons of people recently.

August layoff person from HealthNet. I have been applying since September and nothing. I had a temp agency find me via LinkedIn and I had two interviews with Kaiser. Pay is the same, remote, once a month in the office but no PTO or benefits since it's thru an agency. Still waiting to hear back. It's been HARD out there for me. There's work if you want at least a $10 pay cut.

Got a couple offers, one being double what I was making at Centene. Be clever with your resumes

If you get rehired you surrender all but 3 weeks of severance. Move on…

Go on Indeed and apply to anything remotely applicable. I’ve gotten interviews there too.

Applied to 33 jobs with Centene. Two interviews and progressed past the recruiter 5 times.

No, they don't want to rehire us for the most part. There are two that I know of that have been rehired at entry-level. I'm interviewing like crazy.

If you don’t mind me asking. Where did you get hired? Or do you know of other companies currently hiring?

October layoff here. I applied to at least 25 Centene jobs; got 3 interviews, no offers. They don’t want us rehired. Got a job starting next week elsewhere. Good luck

You're not alone. I've been thinking over on this constantly, and I'm starting to get worried as well. I hate the day I chose to work at Centene.

October lay-off.
