Go elsewhere, give up GD
Completions last day is April 1. Service is Dec 31. Hangar Q is September.
@1kkx+17C5xhjn If they don't give you another job opportunity in a different plant, then it's not a layoff. If they close the building and your job goes away, it's a layoff. Now it's tricky if the new job is in one building that requires to relocate, but I suspect they would go with the severance as it would be cheaper than helping you moving out.
I wonder what will happen to their AOG team? Those are some great guys but their management is horrible. Manager at LB and his Boss in SAV.
I’ve used them a number of times but quit calling cause it’s just too difficult. I’m sure they will all find jobs if they get laid off because of their skills and training.
Does Gulfstream still have to pay severance if they let you know the facility is going to close in a few months .
Technically not a lay-off if the facility is going to close in the near future. Just curious
Meh, old news. This was known back in 2018. Nobody wanted to believe it though.
"Very unfortunate, hopefully everyone finds another job."
Yeah, Dude, I am trying to find it since May 1, 2020. So far, without result.
Don't follow gac around the country. Try to live close to your resources. They'll treat you the same in SAV. DAL completions logically next. All of the midcabin operation would've been sold, but nobody wants it. I'm sorry, guys.

So, Gulfstream cares so much that they're gonna "retain the extensive technical talent of its Long Beach workforce" by "offering those employees the opportunity to apply for positions elsewhere in the company with a focus on Van Nuys, Savannah and Appleton."
There are about 700 jobs in LGB and around 16 jobs on the board right now.
You folks deserve better.

Everyone in LB just lost their job...650 +employees
Thankfully, the closure will not happen for completions til January and for service, til September. Gives everyone enough time to deploy the "oh sh–" reserves.
F— EWIS.
It was a great run at Long Beach, will never forget the people there that gave their all everyday on site.
When? How many affected? Any offers to relocate to Savanah?
Not a ton of information from the original poster.
Very unfortunate, hopefully everyone finds another job.
Yup. A fast shut down. Oh well. You give blood and loyalty and Gulfstream gives nothing in return.
