Laid off by verbal notice in January, not given ANYTHING in writing until almost 2 full weeks later. Manager didn't bother to make the 40 min train ride to lay me off in person.

Then was stonewalled by manager and HR- not an acknowledgement that I had e-mailed to ask when I would be receiving information so that I could plan.

Sh---y, inhumane way to do it, and it all comes straight from the Charlie Scharf. The company started that downslide when he walked in the door.

Relieved to be away from the toxicity.

Getting notice ahead of time is actually a luxury. Most of my peers found out the day of and by the time the meeting was over they were cut off, couldn't say goodbye or transfer work.

Could you please explain this 2 week period. Did you continue working during this 2 weeks until formally let go? When was your layoff official, when you were told or two weeks later? When did you non-working notice actually start?

It's true. There really is no good way to do this. In person might be ideal, but it's also a waste of resources if travel is required.

Why would someone take a 40 min train ride to term you in person? Most people get let go remotely so why are you so special? Also whats supposedly so superior about someone doing it to your face vs on a phone call?

I was laid off via a teams meeting. I did get the paperwork about a week later, but they cut my access within 1 hour. I had a non-working WARN notice period.
