Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

overheard 2 managers talking

I recently was shopping in the store and heard 2 managers discussing the meeting about layoffs. I didnt hear the entire conversation, but heard something about starting in march of this year. If this is on the store level, I wonder what areas they would target?

I once overheard 2 managers talking about what they had for lunch. Double cheeseburgers, fries, and Diet Pepsi.

@1j9 This is absolutely false. Vision staffing depends on traffic through the vision center. There’s no across the board resource plan to change that. Pharmacy staffing is likewise based on traffic, demand, customer base and local competition. You might see minimal adjustments in pharmacy based on local demand but there’s no plan to cut pharmacy staff across the board. And given Walmart’s interest in the growing and exploding area of healthcare, cutting staff there does not make sense.

The rumor is they are going to cut one one or two vision center associates and one pharmacy tech and cut 20 pharmacist hours per store

@10c None of that is true. All you have to do is a look at the financials to know that’s total BS. Most stores are understaffed and there’s high turnover. It doesn’t matter if you’re working HBA, TLE, picking, stocking, bakery or meats, or whatever. We don’t layoff hourly workers at the stores. It makes no sense to do so. The only conceivable similarity would be a store closure with no other store less than 50 miles. Walmart might layoff or reassign store salary associates, but we don’t layoff hourly workers. If anything, we need a ton more. There are no store level associates that are going to be laid off.

I would guess pickers and loaders since it seems according to several sources walmart delivery is eventually going to be all self employed drivers shopping inside with no curbside pickups. Youtube and tik tok were my soures though, so who knows.

@OP Liar liar pants on fire. Managers at the stores would never have prior knowledge of a layoff. That information is AVP and VP level only. So the original poster is full of cr-p

@OP This is total BS. It didn’t happen. It doesn’t matter how the OP replies, it didn’t happen. It’s just BS. Some ignorant sl--e just trying to stir up some stuff. Don’t pay any attention to this low life.
