@1izt+1eZV0Sul Interesting insight there. If true, it'll take nearly a year post-announcement to close, if not more. The last Democrat administration took a dim view in 2016 of Anthem-Cigna and Aetna-Humana from the start, and I'd expect at least some DOJ static on this plus states like California. Even CVS-Aetna ran into a 9-month headwind in the Federal District Court with their final approval. UHG is having real problems getting Change Healthcare over the line. But I can see some states where Centene's run into trouble preferring Cigna to take over the plans. Cigna also has a strong international footprint so they would be interested in Centene's international holdings--who knows, it may stop there.

MFN holding up the works to get himself a board seat? Bwaaaahhahaaa! Betcha it's much more than that! Platinum parachute!

It's on between UHC and Cigna. Worst kept secret in the industry. MFN still thinks he deserves a board seat and that has been one of a few minor roadblocks.

Selling to Cigna fast would mean a nice payday for Politan with minimal waiting and MFN pulling a Scrooge McDuck in the gold vault--rich beyond his wildest dreams. Also a lot of execs would be happy with a large payday and maybe jobs at the combined company, ending the current drama. Cigna might have to sell off some parts to get it past the SEC, DOJ, HHS, CMS, and the states, but it makes a lot more sense than Anthem buying Cigna, which was a marriage made in he-l and that the courts finally quashed. Cigna is the smallest of the majors and what this would do for them is vault them right up there with UH Group and Anthem with government health plans, a provider network, an established MSO, and much more. I don't know if their corporate culture is any better than Centene's though...and I'd suspect that STL would be history as Cigna's HQ'd in CT.
