Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

I should have been laid off

They should have given some of us a chance to volunteer. I'd have happily accepted. As it is, I'm still here and miserable and somebody who wanted to stay is out of their job.

I am curious. Did many folks put their hands up for layoff but instead been told to stay on ?
I wonder if OT prefers folks to resign to save them money.

@1iwt, there is no info that could be sold - no sign in required, and most of the users are using vpn servers anyways.

Will this site sell user information to OT?

That is why you should be monitoring this site. When I heard of pending 1st July layoff from here, I asked my manager if I can be layoff instead of my colleague. I knew I was going to be overloaded with new work and working for no bonus or pay rises for years. My colleague would have preferred to stay. However, we both got layoff instead.
Better to be forewarned and be prepared then to have layoff sprung on you and locked out of the system asap. One disadvantage was the super long wait till 1st of July and uncertainty.
Good luck to all my fellows Micro Focus and Opentext colleagues.
