Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Winston-Salem WEC Location

Anyone heard of a timeline for everyone at the WEC site since Winston is not a go forward location?

"This year" and "March" seem to be in conflict, have you already flipped your calendar to 2025 or...?

Well here we are, November 1 2024.
Any updates on this because WEC is still going with no updates.

I'm guessing Sharf is underestimating the
impact the immigrant population has on his plans? I hope they break into his bunker.

Landlord probably already planning for a post-WF era, sprucing things up a bit before leasing to another biz. I've seen upgrades 2-3 months before a site is closed in other locations in the past. It happens.

@ @1qpo+1r3sPeQX I’ve wondered that myself.

WFC is investing is moving a group of people in the P1 level of the building and are remodeling the cafeteria. Why spend the money to lay everyone off in 1 year? I'm sure it is pennies to the overall org - just seems pointless.

I’ve also heard a lot of what has been posted. Lease expires Sept 2025 and not being renewed again. When they abruptly decided not to move IT folks to the Tower as planned that was telling. Along with standing up new data centers and cloud migration which made WEC non essential. Add to that the commitment of deep cuts to expenses, we are going down the same path as Columbia. Not sure when we will be notified but late 2024 to Spring 2025 is my guess and that’s all it is, a guess. I miss old Wachovia!

I’m a Director with 3 employees in Winston. We were told late last year that displacements for these people would be toward the end of 2024, but right before the holidays they told us March and gave no reason. These people are working on regulatory deliverables but that didn’t even make a difference. I am displacing others who are remote employees in March. I have heard of 3 bigger displacements this year, March, summer, and Oct. Of course, every month will have layoffs.

@1iam+1r3sPeQX To the manager with team at WEC: is March a significant date for all or specific orgs?

No WARN notice yet in NC. Does that mean anything?

Exactly. That's how we all know that it's layoff strategy, not a location strategy. It's all been a lie from the very begining. Just like RTO. Just like the BS ratings system. Just like everything that POS in Hudson Yards does.

All I want to know is if his apologists eyes are open yet to what he really is and what his plan is. He's here to exterminate the domestic workforce. First RTO, then Location strat, then cost-cutting/efficiencies BS, and the final blow will be the closure of the hubs not called Hudson Yards and I&P. That's the plan and it's always been the plan. Anyone that doesn't think so is delusional and being strung along, which is another part of their plan, just long enough to get I&P, or AI, or a contractor, to replace them. We're all going to go.

I have employees in Winston that I am displacing in March. Not my call and offering the drive to Charlotte was not an option. Winston is all but done.

If you are let go, do you have 2 months to spend your flex account or take personal days? Would be nice to have intel to plan!

Anyone in WS unless they are an Exceeds, who will be offered to work out of Charlotte, will be let go this year. Nothing will save them, it is already in the works. Most likely March, but no later than July.

The DC will close within a year, all of my WEC servers must migrate out by September.

To others. This is 100% happening. That DC is going away.

I heard the lease was up in Jan 2025. I'd be really surprised if they moved WEC people to the tower. They tried that last year and then canceled the move last minute.

I suppose some groups like financial crimes on the 4th floor could move to the tower. But tech won't. Lake hinted as much in his last town hall.

They're pulling about 50 servers a day out of the data center. With a goal of being done by the end of summer.

I thought everyone would get a package or an offer to relocate, but we can all only guess. Crickets.

The lease is up in 2025. those groups would not move to the tower by any stretch. very little WF left in the tower.

Is it real this time? I’ve been hearing WEC is going away for 20 years.

I would assume it's closing and everyone moves to the Tower. I believe the lease is up Sept 2025.
