Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

H1B, OPT and H4 Monopoly

Lately I’m seeing H1B visa holders are pulling their unqualified spouses via H4 visas and also pulling OPT visas.
Where they are layoffs locals and our children’s are stressed with unknown future.
GM offices looks like Indian call centers.
How can we stop this ?
Looks like a serious issue everywhere!!

What do you have to say about engineering jobs being moved to Brazil or Mexico? H1B's are paying tax to this country. Can you ask the company not to move the jobs offshore?

And the ones you mentions are shady/crooked, so they are actually worse than having the role vacant. They contribute a negative value.

@1h6 you work hard doing that! while an actual H1B holder works hard on the job to prove his competence and earn his way up

@1h4 you're the best example why there should be ban on H1B?
Don't worry we're pushing hard to stop this ca#$er.
If you're too proud of your country, why dont you go back and work there??

Another homophobic post without facts and data. Go look up on DOL website how many H1B any company sponsors. Too lazy? Or too incompetent? Need an H1B holder to do that for you?

You could require three consecutive generations of Warren residency. You could outsource it to the man in the moon. At the end of the day it's always gonna be the same line of light trucks, plus Corvette.

@b1 tariffs apply to services too. You can make importing services from India very expensive.

@a2 The moment they stop H1b's, companies will move to offshore and competent tech salaries will be a thing of the past. h1b's were the reason the tech salaries are so high, if not the locals would be getting paid 75k for staff engineer roles. You can bring this up in next town hall or go to HR and see if they can help in stopping the hiring unqualified HR's

Easy way for companies to lower their labor costs which raises profits.

Higher profits mean better bonuses for executives.

Almost 98% of H1Bs are Indians.
US needs to stop with the H1Bs and Visas. Just because India is incapable of creating jobs to support their own citizens. Doesn't mean the US should allow them jobs at the expense of US citizens.
