Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Not wanting to make the same mistake again

be sure to check this page before you go to another telecom .. I see a lot of turbulent water .. maybe not the title wave of despair but close

This is a good advice. I know some people who went to competing companies and now they tell me that they haven't accomplished much by leaving here because they also encounter many issues there. Considering your experience here, what do you pay the most attention to when applying for a job at another telecom? I wonder if it might be better to try to change the industry?

How is the growth in T1s, POTS, and DSL these days?
I was referring to more of the copper network. WIN owns little fiber.

Unity sells the circuit s to the cell carriers not WIN

Claim that wireless is only growth? How do you think cell towers get their trunks? Thats right using old wireline companies and fiber Optics. Do you use cellphone as Hotspot to connect your computer to the Internet? Only if you like cr---y connections

If you already work at Windstream they will deny raises but will hire inexperienced employees at your existing pay or higher. If you leave Windstream you can get higher pay and sign on bonuses with another company. Its an old game HR does that always backfires!

The only growth area of telecom is in wireless. Wireline is dead that's why we have filed for bankruptcy and went from billions to millions.

Some may pivot their skills into an IT role.

WIN, Clink, and FTR are all in the same boat right now according to my former coworkers who had moved on. I can't speak to Vz or ATT. Cable companies may provide some opportunities also.
