Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

401k match is now viewable

Log into 401k
Click Account Overview
Scroll all the way down to Transaction History and you will see the 12/29 contribution. It is probably not captured in the overall balance which will update overnight.

Happy New Years to all

All—if you can hurry and do so before market close today in 40 minutes, it’s a GREAT day to rebalance/diversify out of the WFC shares you got as your match. WFC is flat but major indexes are down—you might move it for now into the NASDAQ-tracking index fund, which is down over 2%.

Odd that some are off. My total comp last year was ~160k and I did get ~10k

They shorted me too, unless there is some fine print BS I'm missing. My match should've been around $10k, and I got about $3k.

Anyone else not seeing the match yet?

They shorted my match.

130k salary, maxed contributions, only got 2700. Should have gotten 7800

Annoying to say the least

To Mor…. St….. paper work is all…triple check if you make any mistakes… it will cost you weeks in time….stocks (in kind) transfer no tax to rollout. Easy to liquid for cash and prompt. Empow.. just collects fees, no help, lame custodian. Your money…just easier IMHO to deal outside of the Stagecoach with real
helpful advisor’s. To many options in the market place to stay in Deadsville. Good Luck!

Where did you rollover your 401 from Empower?
Also how difficult was it to rollover?

Final match. FYI if you are over 65 and on severance you still get match due to an exception…. no you don’t have to be employed through the year…did not know this until I went to close my empower account since I rolled over my funds to another brokerage. Yes it is sad that I still come and read this forum. But it is like a brutal Roman coliseum the torture will continue under these mo--nic gladiator's. Hope your severance comes. Quiet quit and fight back. Good luck to all. May the New Year bring you a new job, a positive life event change or a package out of this Zoo.

Post from TheLayoff.com

I am glad someone posted where to look for it, because I could not find it in the expected place. I resigned with a date of 12/15 and I now have the full matching, so I am doubly happy, no longer there, and have the match. Retirement will be nice!

FINALLY! It just appeared in both Transaction History and overall account balance.

Stinks some of us didn't get it in time to trade today (it shows as tradeable, but the stock market is closed until 1/2/2024).

I should have specified to use the website. Not necessarily the app. It’s been like this for me since we flipped to yearly match.

Wouldn’t trust HR to say their own name correctly fwiw.

@lpf

I'm looking in the Account Overview > Transaction History and it's not there. HR said match not deposited to everyone at the same time.

It is there for everyone. It’s not in the dedicated transaction history page, it is in the overview area where the transaction history synopsis is displayed.

my guess is these things are done in batches and not everyone will see it right away. I know mine is t yet visible. And while it would be nice to get the match quarterly again, or even per pay check like some companies, at least we get a match. 6% is pretty good overall, what do the other banks pay? I can think of a few fintechs, sofi, that offer no match.

For those of us not showing the match transaction yet, are they waiting until 11:59 p.m.? sheesh

I realize we can't trade it today, but come on.

Wahhh wahhh I lost all that glorious compounding of my 6%……….. same minority voices complaining about lost opportunity are the same ones who wouldn’t dare lay bare their exact investing schemes and show the buy prices at each interval otherwise the fallacy would fall apart like a used car salesman.

Stay classy in your misplaced rage, stay classy. You scratch for Pennies while I dig for Dollars.

Yes we might have missed out on some compounding but wasnt it nice to miss out on the market losses mostly in 2022 match. It goes both ways. Be glad you get the match.

Why whine about the annual match? Just save your breath and frustration because it's not going to change.

It's better than no match or only half match. The 6% match is still healthy and free

"Lucky few making $200K"

There are tons of them -- far too many w/bloated salaries.

Max match is 6% of yearly income.
For the lucky few making 200k the match will be 12k

Losing the compounding of the match should be a main, constant topic during Q&A in Town Halls. We shouldn't let up until they change course or blatantly admit it's a cost-cutting measure and don't care about our financial well being.

Fully realize this was a strategic decision to save $$$ w/added benefit to cause misery/attrition, but that doesn't mean we can't be vocal in opposition.

I've been checking all day and it hasn't appeared in my transaction history yet. Must be disbursing it in batches.

The real sad thing is if employees had been able to put that money in the NASDAQ 100 fund all year long, they'd have made significantly more money on it than WF did. Talk about inefficiency.

You lose the compounding at a minimum, and possibly all of it if you leave before the end of the year.

BofA does the same thing these days. Not sure about the other big banks.

Congratulations to everyone who lost all that compounding bc we only maych once a year. Well done, evil WF leadership!

Wouldn't coach our customers to accept job w/once per year match, but our bank is fine w/doing bare minimum for its employees.
