Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Am I the only one who misses the office?

I am actually looking forward to the day I'll be able to go back to the office full time. I have four kids and I love each of them dearly but with everybody home I've been having trouble staying on target. I did set up an office in the basement but I realized quickly I was just getting depressed with barely any natural light coming in and all the boxes instead of people around me. I'm just looking forward to being fully productive again. I know it helps that my commute is just half hour each way and I understand people who spend hours traveling back and forth from work not wanting to go back. I'm simply ready.

@1gry+1a9ZZqeL I'm not in management and have a laptop. If you don't, you must be in a really replaceable role.

I’m jealous of the poster below me.. you must be in management to have a laptop.

They make us need to have a hard internet connection and actual computer. I’d love to be able to sit outside.

Why would you want to go back to the office??? We will have to wear a mask (face diaper) all day!, The restrooms will be used on a schedule. Back to seeing the same sh–head manager & office kissass. Work from home is much better, you have the freedom to work where you want. I spent majority of my time working on my dock or on my boat enjoying the weather! Plus the lunch beer is great! Plus I’m able to meet my production quota by 2pm. Only time I sit at my home office is during a video meeting... cheers.....

That probably won’t be an issue much longer since most offices will be closed

Be grateful you have children! One day they may not be here anymore. Know where you are fortunate!! 🤨

Getting back in the office cannot come soon enough. If I have to look at these same walls during and outside of work I'm bound to be ready for a rubber room.

Best reason to work from home... Multi-ply toilet paper.

Also, don't have to wear a mask all day, submit to temperature checks, and deal with all of the other COVID protocols that they'll dream up to make being in the office even worse.

Call it cabin fever if you want but I am looking forward to getting out of my home and back into some sense of normalcy. To me this is not normal to work from home all the time. Looking forward to having lunch with friends and face to face workplace fellowship. Most of my co-workers are going hybrid too for a lot of the same reasons.

Working from home has revolutionized my life and I’m far more productive because I am not constantly interrupted by coworkers.

I’m saving commute costs, my car doesn’t bake or freeze for months on end in the parking lot, my auto insurance rates fell, I can get a few things done around the house at lunch, my food situation is better than eating out for lunch, my restroom is much cleaner, I don’t have to deal with sneezing-coughing coworkers, my dogs love me more.....the list goes on.

To each there own though so I get everyone’s situation is different.

I like wearing what I like, sleeping in, and no commute.

I'm going back in at Hudson and asking if I can full time. I need some semblance of professionalism after the last year. To each their own though.

I certainly didn't but my team did. Out of my 22 reports 13 are selecting hybrid over work from home. Unfortunately as their leader this will force me hybrid.

Working from home was great for the first 6 months or so. But after that it got to the point where half my team got too comfortable and production went well down and half of us was trying to keep the ship afloat. There were not layoffs in our department so that had no bearing. A shame because giving a choice will keep the bad work behaviors going even if some if us want to go back because those people will stay at home continuing to slack off until their numbers bring them to UN. Then they will play victim blaming work from home. I will watch the mess from the office myself.

No! Working from home is great.
Productivity is much better and I don’t have to listen to my coworkers with their long finger nails clacking their keyboard and popping gum.

Yes, you could tell the employees that are pretentious children when left unsupervised at home. I will be returning hybrid myself gladly.

I will have to agree with OP. Working from home was not all it was cracked up to be. It is a nice option for work resumption needs and bad weather. But trying to work at home with kids here and trying to separate work from home did not work well for me. Also it seems a lot of my peers that I know who love it exploited it to slack off and get away with shenanigans that would not be tolerated in a structured office setting which some of these people obviously need. Screw hybrid. I am going back full time if they allow me.

The only plus of working in the office was sleeping with all the married coworkers.

They make UV generating lights that are supposed to help with that. Also, anti depressants are a good option.

Put your kids in the basement and make a decent area for yourself by a window.
