Mark has never had an original idea in his life. He copies others and claims to be the tech prophet.
He claimed RTO was due to synergies and working better together, but he simply followed the leads of Amazon (2023), Apple (2022), Google (2022), Meta (2022), etc.
He claimed AI will make us more efficient (in preparation for a massive round of layoffs), but he is again following the lead of other tech companies :
-
Shopify (CEO Lutke) has mandated that managers must demonstrate that AI cannot perform a job before hiring new staff. AI usage is now a core expectation, with performance reviews assessing employees' proficiency in leveraging AI tools.
-
Microsoft Introduced AI tools aimed at automating sales processes, potentially reducing the need for sales administrators.
-
Meta Launched AI-driven customer service tools for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, allowing businesses to automate interactions such as answering queries and facilitating purchases.
Mark stood onstage late last year and prognosticated about the coming god, agentic AI. As if he had invented the idea. However
-
Daniel Dines (UiPath): As CEO of UiPath, Dines has repositioned the company from traditional robotic process automation to agentic AI. He envisions a future where AI agents handle complex tasks, allowing human workers to focus on decision-making and oversight.
-
Thomas Kurian (Google Cloud): Kurian has emphasized agentic AI's central role in Google's strategy, highlighting its potential to transform business operations and customer interactions.
-
Mustafa Suleyman (Microsoft AI): Suleyman has discussed the evolving relationship between humans and AI agents, predicting a future where professionals manage AI collaborators in a symbiotic partnership.
-
Alexandr Wang (Scale AI): Wang has advocated for the integration of agentic AI in both commercial and defense sectors, emphasizing its strategic importance for national competitiveness.
When has Mark ever led tech innovation?
When has any OpenText engineering leader or fellow (P6) ever led tech innovation?
It is so frustrating to see these losers on stage (Mark, Muhi, Savinay, John Radko, Stephen Ludlow, Tal Levi, etc.) pretending to be thought leaders and preeminent engineering leaders. They are cheap Temu versions of engineering leaders.
I wish Tom Jenkins would wake up and direct the board to perform a real review of Mark's performance. I don't understand why the board still supports Mark. If the board wants to protect the company and investors, they must fire most of the ELT (except Paul D and Shannon) and rebuild from the ground up.
The company is running out of steam, and there is no coal to get it started again.
