So HR have been in a bad mood recently and there have been all these communications about adjusting pay to ‘market rates’ and how they have been working with a consultant to review pay. And now the comms about discussing with your manager or HR if you still have questions about an upcoming announcement.
They are going to try and force pay cuts on to people even after the company had a great year aren’t they? Is it even legal to do that?

The US dollar is currently in hyper-inflationary collapse. Believe it or not.
@1cwa+19LjckAb They will happily TAKE your cut, my cut, his cut, her cut, their cut, Hasbro’s cut, MGA’s cut, Santa’s cut.......
I'm white, so I don't have to worry about a pay cut.
funny thing about bonus structures, you often see people wait to get them and then leave right afterwards.
The fact that the comment @1fzh+19LjckAb, which states things like "talent and qualifications" are "white supremacist concepts", has a like to dislike ratio of +6/-4 tells you everything you need to know about the people you work with.
There may not be pay CUTS but there are now caps on pay RISES. Really frustrating for someone who is doing a great job and getting praise, only to be told that they won't get a tiny cost of living increase, basically now more pay increase unless they get promoted. It's a glass ceiling based on market averages. How many companies out there are a good comparison to Mattel?
Did anyone commenting actually read what they sent out? Level setting of pay, yes. Bonuses are still based on performance, even if your raise isn’t And there are NO paycuts. Where are you all getting your info??
"market rates" - huh? where else in America does a basic middle-manager get a VP Title and six figure salary. Only at Mattel.

Will Mattel gets bought out?
@5iin+19LjckAb They're telling you that all the past work and effort you put in, that went above-and-beyond and got your salary to a better than average level through better than average performance reviews, was all meaningless to them.
They're retroactively telling you, "on second thought, we take that back, you didn't deserve extra merit increases for your effort."
The message from HR couldn't be more clear; all employees current putting in any extra effort should immediately start doing the bare minimum.
This cultural shift away from meritocratic evaluation in favor of equitable treatment will destroy any company or institution that implements it.
Very disappointed. I have always gone the extra mile, so have done well on performance reviews. Now it turns out I am being paid 'above market rate' for my job description, so likely no pay increase for several years until my pay is in line with those with lower performance.
CV is already out with recruiters and I know a couple of people over in the UK office who are doing the same.
Maybe Mattel gets bought out, because there is a buyer.
Just read an article that said 60% of accountants will not be needed in the future because of AI, so take THAT, you evil Bean Counters (the audit team at Mattel is Horrendous). Pay the innovators the most, those are the ones who can't be replaced by Computers.
In the case of poor performance, your base salary won't be cut, you're bonus will get adjusted as your "pay cut". For good performance, your base salary will go up slightly (merit increase) and match 'market pay', but your bonus should be big. At least that is what is supposed to happen. In the end, the house always wins.
The concept of performance based pay is rooted the same white supremacist framework that gave rise to other meritocratic ideas like grades, standardized tests, performance reviews, talent, qualifications etc.
The only concern here should be why has it taken Mattel so long to take these necessary steps towards creating a more equitable and safe work environment?
Dumb move to abolish performance based pay. I have always come out well in that, but if it doesn't matter any more then it's strictly 9 to 5 until I move to a company that rewards performance.
do you think you have a choice? you either take it or you leave. that’s it. you’re not entitled to anything zoomer
So what percentage pay and bonus cut will yon and rd take?
