Help! My boss wants me to turn on cam for 'reaction'

My boss asks to turn on cam for 'reactions' during a meeting. He wants to see facial reactions and if your facial reactions are literally a 'what' or question mark, he will assume that you are very d-mb to not understand simple words in the meeting.

How to stand up to such arrogant bosses?

When I worked at another firm, we had to turn the camera on always when getting our mid and end of year review. I don't know why.

@1fxj+1tYVhNJ4 is correct. PLs can get petty when they need to put someone in BS. My PL once asked if I wanted to join his hackathon organizing committee. He made it sound like it was up to me. I had a high workload during that time and he was aware of it. So I told him I didn't have the bandwidth.

The next calibration, I was told that I "did not live the values" for not contributing to his extracurricular activity.

Also remember C1 math is if you go below strong on say 2 of 9 competencies still over all is below strong. When I asked that question to my manager ..I got a b.s answer like these 2 gets more weight than other Competencies blah blah which is not defined anywhere I know of

Be prepared for the “doesn’t respond to feedback” and “not a team player” comments in your EOY evaluation if you don’t do it. It doesn’t even matter if the policy requires you not be on camera. You’ll 100% be found as lacking in your “Teamwork” and “Communication” Competencies, as well as any others they can place this in to ding you.
