Reduce HR by 80% and convert their compensation to COLAs for Midland employees. Many problems solved.

Forget about Midland, COP is bad place to work. I spent 15 years there and now with other operator from past 2 years.

We usually move out of Midland when it becomes obvious that our snowflake high pots aren’t performing well. West Texas has a unique way of letting the cream rise to the top and the inconvenient truth does not align with the progressives’ predetermined outcomes. Rather than acknowledge failures and successes, we change the landscape and rules to fit the narrative.

A one way trip to Hades, er Midland. Package includes being laid off the next time the need for the Midland office is questioned. Every couple years we open and then close offices here. Just ask anyone who started with CoP 15 years ago or longer. Oh, nevermind, they’ve all been laid off. Good luck!

For the record @1jah... The Midland municipal water supply IS disgusting to drink, and have you ever seen how it stains the facades of houses? Imagine what it would do to your insides! Of course, the locals don't drink it straight from the tap, but apparently you do.

I guess it depends on the site. This site lists Midland, TX with the worst water in the US - https://prostack.com/2021/04/13/worst-public-water-ratings/.

@1jah+1bj3yoKq Have you tasted the water in Midland? Yuck. Everyone has water softeners and RO filters. Water heaters fail every couple of years. Plumbing leaks all the time.

The E&P industry is an employers market now and they know it. Be happy you still have a job.

I fear you are right. Once people see what others are paying and resign management will decide it is best to move people back to Houston rather tha. Pay a COLA. Of course the reasons for wanting the workforce where the work is being done will quickly be forgotten in the decision. Once performance begins to drop management will wonder what is wrong.

I wonder how long they will get away with no COLA. Other companies in Midland pay significantly more and cost of living in Midland is much higher than Houston.

Standard moving package. See company policy.

Come on guys, we’ve all been there before. We will staff up Midland, and then at some point we will do a “best practices” or “cost consolidation ” or a “benchmarking review” or… and close down the Midland office and consolidate in Houston.

Been there, done that

No adjustments to compensation. A moving package for me that is equivalent to approximately net 1.5X my monthly salary is being offered (I am not a high SGL). In addition, company pays for movers to transport belongings to Midland.
