Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Office should be 5 days

Pre covid office was 5 days, so I don’t think it’s new rule. As well it’s too hard to communicate with remote people, sometimes responses are super slow and confusing.

@1f6 simply put. Because we have all these buildings to pay for including that new one in Texas and real estate is so flippin' expensive.

Sometimes in Denver I am one of like 5 people on the floor, and none of us do any of the same work. I visited Frisco a couple of weeks ago, there were maybe 20 people total on that floor, and again none of us did the same work. So their collaboration excuse is a complete lie at the very least a pipe dream. We collaborated way more from home during COVID (because we had to to get things done) with awesome productivity (worked long hours because nothing better to do and no traffic to drive into office).

But they pay $$$$$$$ for retail space and need to have someone in the office.

And it is clear to TBD, the SEVPS, and the board that the logo and brand on buildings is far more important to them than our people actually doing the work. I mean why else would you sell thousands to Accenture and layoff hundreds in Denver for no reason other than living in a slightly more expensive city than our NYC office apparently is.

I came to the office. Logged onto zoom meeting with folks in India. 98% of the people I work with are in India. Why the F.... they make us to be in the office for?

Stop posting this garbage about 5 days a week. It always gets speculated and never happens.

Do you really think that being in an office is going to help " sometimes responses are super slow and confusing." ? Maybe they're actually busy doing real work or on a meeting. If confusing answers is your problem, ask for clarification or fix the reason that you're not comprehending the answers given.

“Responses are slow”

Please don’t come to my desk if I haven’t responded on Teams in two minutes.

I will hate you forever.

@OP in case you, T, and the entire ELC missed the memo, the world of work changed post COVID but TIAA still has it's head up it ar-se and don't understand the benefits of remote work

@OP

If you are "confused" by responses, perhaps the deficiency is on your end.

Try to be a little smarter next time.

@a9 agreed.

Like the only issue with the 3 day hybrid is not everyone is there the same day which makes their entire point of collaborating together simply not work as intended and thus pointless.

evidently @OP wasn’t here in the early days because five days a week in the office was horrible, people didn’t collaborate. They just kept talking and talking about random stuff very little work related discussions. Not to mention still even then many phone calls between offices and hearing sirens on calls or whatnot. But we managed and got it done.

I think OP is a troll like TBD or one of her reports or HR.
Layoff Mods can delete this troll thread that has nothing to do with layoffs.

“Sometimes responses are super slow and confusing”…

Huh?

This has nothing to do with remote work and is about the people you work with.

Every day there are people and companies that are thriving with remote work.

TIAA refuses to give raises. The least they can do is let people work a couple days a week remote.
