We should assume layoffs every quarter (with jobs being replaced by AI) until things turn around or we get acquired. The AI may not do a good job, but this is the directive coming from the top.

That depends on whether the additional reductions are part of the FY25 or FY26 plan. If it’s 25, they will be before end of June. Last year around this time, the reductions were the first week of July.
If some people here are correct we will see more laid off next week.
Let's wait and see if that information is correct.
OpenText will get added to this list soon as they look for AI to save them https://www.buzzfeed.com/victoriavouloumanos/successful-companies-that-bankrupted-themselves
AI ain’t something every company can pull off, especially not this old-school, penny-pinching, stuck-in-the-mud OpenText. AI needs big-picture thinking and serious cash flow, you know? Imagine a zombie company where every tiny expense needs ELT and CEO sign-off—good luck building AI with that! It’s like some street-side burger joint claiming their greasy patties will make you live forever. And yet, somehow, investors and clients fall for this childish nonsense.
Mark B wants to use and learn with AI, but when we use and learn with AI the results su-k. Make it make sense
@1ry I have 15 but wouldnt be surprised if my turn is up.
@24h , even training with AI and setting the processes is not a guarantee. I seen some long timers moving into processes gone recently. Maybe, its best to do what some people told me, train up in what interest you, so that, when you do leave, the training may help with the next job. Unfortunately, for me, not much time to train up with the increased customer volume.
At OpenText unless you report to Mark B, you are just a number and in their mind replaceable. That’s why the are pushing AI, it’s cheaper than people, works 24/7 and always follows orders. The way to keep your job is to get involved with training AI, setting the processes and guidelines.
@23n , you don't owe OT anything. They don't see your hard work and multi tasking roles. We are just a number on the spreadsheet. Try to leave on your own terms.
I had a colleague asking for help for his customer on a Sunday. When we try contacting him on Monday, we found out he has been layoff.
used to have 10 people under me... now I'm left with 4. I've always been a working manager and have also taken on other roles as we've lost people, so they should think twice about making their decisions based on only the # of direct reports!
@1ry when I left a year ago (ahead of the big wave right at the beginning of this fiscal year), managers were being told that they needed to have at least 8 direct reports. A manager with only 1-3 direct reports is either really important or flying under the corporate radar.
@1s1 LOL. Good luck in managing AI bots. AI Bots will not be able to process illogical decisions coming down from management.
@1ry managers will just be managing AI bots going forward.
@1f4 Do you mean 12 directs or overall reports? I don’t know anyone with 12 directs. I know plenty of managers with 1-3 reports and that doesn’t make sense.
OpenText doesn’t need AI since the prophet Mark B has all the answers. The word of our CEO.
Mark’s

Who needs machine learning when we have the gospel according to Mark B….
Next are people managers with less than 10-12 directs, you heard it here first.
@y4 AI summarized Mark's email for me:
Bottom Line:
This reads like a CEO trying to maintain morale through aspirational messaging while implementing cost-cutting measures that directly contradict his stated values.
@y4 But apparently this is care for employee month.
We don’t deserve to stay at this great company that’s been "innovating" for 35 years. What a freaking joke!
Canada virtual employee-affected today.
Really, just f MB and some of the lame awhole mgmt at OT. You would not believe how many stupid employees are being protected while the rest of the team pics up the slack. Knowing really good people were let go and having the knowlege that some really stupid and lazy people are still here makes you silent quit. We have a Sr. Director that clearly no one has ever gotten to know because she is unbelievably stupid. She couldn't lead a group out of a paper bag.
most of the 400 I believe is from China office closing. Yet, Im sure there will be some. Then again in September after performance reviews are submitted.
When he enters the room to present the keynote at SKO, they should play “Another one bites the dust” by Queen. At least it would show he is being honest about his objectives.
Basically another round of US based employees will be impacted . Mark wants business in us without employees .
This isn't new news. Someone posted about the layoffs in April and were correct, but they said that there would be two parts and the second part is in June. Whoever is left gets to learn how to use the company's AI in July, but history says that there are usually layoffs at the beginning of the year (business year). So regardless, it's silly to not prepare for possibly losing your job at any level in this sad company.
OpenText is the hospice and graveyard for old technology and is the Dollar General of services providers.
@h4 Mark B's own words in our initial meeting after being acquired. "Opentext isn't a company you retire from."
All i can say is this is in pipeline.
Retirement is now joke in this company. Leadership needs new brain cells or may be a new brain.
Just upskill be ready on linkedin.com.
Correct. France, Germany and UK. Works council delayed all parties already know but not been communicated outwards.
I personally have not seen or heard any proof of additional layoffs next month, but would not be surprised.
Any substantial evidence.
How do you know? What countries will be impacted? What other details do you have, or are you just trying to scare everyone and get attention?
Is this Europe? Now that there's been time for Works Council and other laws?
Engineers? Ops? Marketing? Finance? Support?
July, big announcement for more vacuuming.
Huh?
