Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Give us voluntary layoffs!

Do I get frustrated at work? Yes, sometimes. I find the paycheck to be adequate for the work. But if I was offered a "juiced up" severance package I would more than likely take it.

I feel they should OFFER one. Allow those willing to leave to go. Voluntary Severance allows you to keep some resemblance of loyalty and culture. Well worth the Juicing Up.

Perfectly said, @at+1jwdzpv8z!

The vrsp was not much better than regular severance. Maybe two weeks extra.

@1em The reason it has nothing to do with being cheap is if you are RIF'd UHG has to cover the unemployment insurance for you. If you leave they don't. A voluntary is way cheaper. I've was told a couple years ago from a friend in HR that they have not offered one to OT because of the general fear that too many with all the knowledge would take it, hence leaving too much knowledge debt....

Let’s hope they do. Cause Humana just told the congress they are gonna support the reforms including no more having nurse practioner go into your home and tack on a bunch of diagnosis so they can beef up those risk adjustment scores and for all you doing audits in the chart and finding that all diagnosis so they can bill more , that over too. So toodle doo all u house call NP’s and coders . U be canned next

Keep dreaming optum fires/layoff never gonna happen. Plan is working if you are frustrated you will leave for free at some point.

@OP Sure, I’ll take the beefed-up severance package. Time to close the curtain on my 40-year, stress-marinated career.

Yes! But, they won't offer it across the entire company.

The company did that 15+ years ago (pre-Optum days) & too many took it. The headcount was much smaller than. The company took a hit of brain drain & financial...higher than expected cost due to number who volunteered.

So, don't expect Voluntary Buyout to be across the entire company ever again. They may target certain business units, but never the entire company.
