Thread regarding Optum layoffs

The dust will settle around __________.

How would you finish the above statement?

Allow me to ramble for a moment...

The internal culture is on a negative trajectory. I remember things being much more positive 7+ years ago. I believe the increased RIFS, constant leadership changes, teams being shifted around like unstable tectonic plates and the never ending corporate speak and jargon that we all know is fake are all ingredients creating this unwanted fruit cake. Burnout is everywhere. The dumpster fire is visible even publicly now. Chained desk workers do not trust leadership and know the company will not be loyal to them yet the powers that be spew all this talk of being part of the family and company community. Gotta love that talk in Townhalls the day following massive RIFS. Can you say cognitive dissonance?

Will things settle down? If so, when?

Agree that MA gets at RADV every year. The feds created the program thru the ACA where whichever payer was able to obtain the most medical records with the most HCCs evidencing more “risk” than any other payer would get the most money- the feds built the game, we just learned how to play it better than anyone else.

Something is going on. And it looks and we can only hope that current leadership is being demoted, fired because as some of us know they been up to no good and actually boasted about said antics a couple of years ago. The big man and his followers were doing not so nice stuff to the plan members . Hopefully HHS is going to pull a big audit on them and well you can’t hide what the old guys were doing. Should be news worthy as the Medicare advantage gets audited.

Why on earth would they waste the money in a juiced up severance plan or buyout. You were asleep. Payout does not get better it gets worse over time. Keep the same plan and have people miserable quit for free. The strategy is working to reduce headcount

Hire a clueless thug as CEO, who hires more of his kind. Surprised of what’s going on?

Do I get frustrated at work? Yes, sometimes. I find the paycheck to be adequate for the work. But if I was offered a "juiced up" severance package I would more than likely take it.

I feel they should OFFER one. Allow those willing to leave to go. Voluntary Severance allows you to keep some resemblance of loyalty and culture. Well worth the Juicing Up.

Not for a while. Another article or lawsuit will likely come out soon and leadership will scramble yet again to compensate. The more they tighten their grip, more slips through their fingers.

As a current employee, I am extremely concerned that a once great service to our patients has been reduced to this by the higher ups. Ask them the last time they met with one of our members/patients. They’re all numbers on a spreadsheet just like the employees.
