Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Why the heck does ASC still have problems almost 2 years later

Ok, what is going on? It still pulls in suspended DL licenses on random people that have verified active licenses, changes coverages randomly at binding, price randomly changes when quote is opened the next day and other glitches.

Support continues to just say "working as intended" "nothing we can do".

Who in the world creates software that cant be be overridden by an admin? For instance if a DL is obviously not suspended because it's active on the DMV website.

Here I am again... Stuck waiting on chat for 30 minutes. I'll probably be told again that "theres nothing they can do..."

@1s5 It's not stupidity. The ideas at a really high level aren't that bad. It's the implementation that's the problem and the reason they (Z and K) haven't dialled back on it is pride and arrogance.

Pushing code out the door with half-baked ideas, getting rid of testing, giving ASC teams the run of the company, re-creating existing services without making them backwards compatible, threatening anyone who gives negative feedback... it's all this kind of thing that's causing the damage.

Because it's not even close to done. This was some senior a--hat's brilliant idea to modernize the platform and I'm sure he or she got a huge bonus check for it and then parachuted out before disaster struck. Despite the legions of clapping seals in middle management trying to suppress the truth, when he board finally realized what it was REALLY going to cost, they put the brakes on and so you have a half assed 'modernization' of the platform. Then their bright idea was just to hook up new plumbing to old pipes but...oh no...can't get the sh-t to flow properly.

At this point it's a Frankenstein's monster of various technologies, with Zulfi, Kamal, not to mention the sycophants in middle management, applying endless fruitless layers of tu-d polish.

Some states have even told Allstate they couldn't have ASC in their state it is so bad. They had to change something and sneak it into Texas under a different company name and number. The state of Texas was too ignorant to see how Allstate snuck it by them.

ASC is a laughing stock. Customer know it. Agents know it. The low and mid level employees and managers know it. The upper level management and C-suite are too stupid and ignorant to realize it or they refuse to accept defeat.

This company is run by complete imbeciles.

In the beginning was the Plan.

And then came the Assumptions.

And the Assumptions were without form.

And darkness was upon the face of the Workers.

And they spoke among themselves, saying, "It is a crock of sh-t, and it stinketh."

And the workers went unto their Supervisors and said, "It is a pail of dung, and none may abide the odour thereof."

And the Supervisors went unto their Managers, saying, "It is a container of excr-ment, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."

And the Managers went unto their Directors, saying, "It is a vessel of fertiliser, and none may abide its strength."

And the Directors spoke amongst themselves, saying one to another, "It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong."

And the Directors then went onto the Vice Presidents, saying unto them, "It promotes growth and is very powerful."

And the Vice Presidents went unto the President, saying unto him, "This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigour of the company; with powerful effects."

And the President looked upon the Plan, and saw that it was good.

And the Plan became Policy.

This is How Sh-t Happens.

It's just awful. Everyone with any sense knows it is a disaster and not working. But TPTB make up figures and details to show how everything is great and fantastic with it. So those higher up don't have to hear anything about it.

It is only half built still after over 2 years of implementation. But we were told we dare not give any input that is not positive as the developers and teams that are in charge of ASC do not take criticism well at all and complain to leaders when they here criticism.

It is a product developed and owed by complete mo--ns who are dare not questioned.

Typical for this company.

What do you expect when you create an application that is architected by id--ts. It's built in an atmosphere where teams neither have the power nor the inclination to push back on bad decisions. When the application is built on MVP like ideas that aren't thought through and results in an awful inconsistent code base with no long or medium term strategy.

The user experience is awful. It's no wonder that customers don't want to hang around when the customer service portal is rubbish, and that's when it works.

Because the developers and creators of ASC are not smart and not logical people.

An IQ over 80 and a little common sense would show right away that the ASC model was going to be a failure from the very start.

But this company has shown repeatedly that they are ready and willing to jump into the deep end of failures from the start.

Don't worry, AI is coming to save us all. This time next year it will have replaced all Allstate software with one new big state of the art system that does absolutely everything, profits will go through the roof, the share holders will be dancing down streets paved with gold and statues of TW and ZJ will be erected to celebrate their contributions to the company.

Isn't Quantum, um... TG... ah... ASC... just the bestest future?
plenty of cheap developers as opposed to disappearing Cobol coders!
... ASC has been around MUCH longer than 2 years ... they just kept changing the name as it got further and further behind schedule.

"Director" in this company is really synonymous for "ret@rd"

Well what do you expect when quality control standards are thrown out the windows, majority of teams are offshore to India and they do not know how to handle atate laws, and the new product model ruins efficiency. Place is ran by fear NOT innovation unless it is a way to lay off people

Because the company culture has been ruined by Zulfi and Tom. They have created a culture of fear and indifference. They refuse to pay the money for good devs in the US and NI where the culture is to challenge sh-t ideas and sh-t standards, or to spend the time developing people anymore so that they are invested in the company. Would rather lay people off and call it an efficency win. They will both personally enrich themselves while the legacy they leave behind is of a costly failure sprinkled with tinsel sh-t like OBD.

ASC especially on the auto side tries to put everything in "Simple" box when each state is normally highly dynamic due to laws or coverages. This leads to subpar experience leaving us behind competitors. When you mix in strong personalities in charge combined with egos and lack of technology talent it makes it worse.

Because when something breaks instead of fixing it they fire the person in charge, promote that person's boss, reorg their team, then put the work back on naive 22 year olds or other desperate people across the globe
