Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

RIF'd and employed

After almost 7 months I just accepted an entry-level position making literally 1/2 less than I made at Centene and previous roles. I have to pay bills and eat.

Would those who were laid off in. 2023 tell me how long it took you to land a new job, please?

I was part of the Oct layoff with my last day at Centene being Dec 1 2023. I had started feverishly applying and interviewing once I got notice in Oct 2023, and finally landed a position with a competitor in Feb 2024 (pretty much same pay and PTO accrual, but benefits aren't the best).
Don't give up hope, you will find something! Be sure to showcase any unique skills/experience on your resume, as well as any meaningful, specific metrics you were able to meet/exceed in previous positions.

I had a contractor job lined up before I was actually laid off. Started the Monday after. Did that for about five months and after a not super serious job search and a couple interviews, started a steady job with the government doing similar work back in June. It’s less money but way less chaotic and stressful. I had almost forgotten what it was like to be in a position that isn’t greed/profit focused and is more people just trying to do the right thing. Centene’s culture and ability to execute had really deteriorated in recent years and I was frankly glad to go. Nonstop chaos and complaints and a bunch of empty suits in leadership.

I was laid off in December. I took 3 months to myself and then started looking. Within 2 weeks of applying I had 2 offers. I love my new job.

Post ID: @3oop+1teuQ6e9 there is no possible way that in four months you applied to thousands of jobs (are there even that many that are relevant to apply to?) and went on hundreds of interviews. The trolls on this site are running rampant now. Some of the other threads on this layoff site are equally ridiculous. This site was created to be informative, not whatever it has now become.

Please pray for me and all of us. 6 months and I've done everything you've mentioned and more. Recruiters are hitting me up left and right on LinkedIn. I screen with them, they submit my resume, and I never hear from them again.

I've even reached out to recruiters I've worked with years ago from old emails...nothing. Internal referrals, I've made the final cut...nothing and no feedback.

This is HORRIBLE.

6 months and had to take pay cut. Sent out resume everywhere and interviewed quite a bit during that time. It was awful.

I'm so sorry to hear the current job market is as bad as what I've heard. I was part of the 3000 person layoff in early 2021 during the pandemic. I applied to many jobs for the first couple of months, only had a few interviews and those didn't get me anywhere. I had a recruiter from another health insurance company contact me on LinkedIn about two and a half months into the layoff. I interviewed with them and was hired within two weeks. The pay is comparable and the bonuses are extremely generous. My suggestion is to beef up your information on LinkedIn, network as best you can on there and keep applying. Make sure your resume shows the best of what you have accomplished. And pray. As a single mom with no secondary income to rely on and little savings, I understand how frightening this situation is. Best wishes to all of you and even if you don't pray, I'm going to pray for you.

Still have yet to find a job after my layoff in April 2023. Companies just do not respond.
