Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Feeling demotivated

I used to love working here and often put my work before my personal life. Not anymore. Considering the amount of work I do, a little raise would be an insult. Seems the only way to get an adequate raise is to leave this place?

Wow this Axeman guy has some obsession issues with layoffs. No way anyone should have such an unhealthy obsession with it unless you are a major shareholder or in management.

You will be a fool to believe in promises, and even fooler to expect 20% adjustment, even if they try to offset inflation, it will be under 15%.

MW promised a major structural salary bump to more than offset inflation so should be at least 20%. Bonus is totally separate and based on performance only.

There will be no salary increase beyond typical 0 to 5%, the bonus would be higher but salary increase has a lot of other complications, from pension to life insurance, to etc...

@1bxn, in the old days that would have been true. You must be oblivious to rising interest rates, which wipe out any advantage to staying around until 2026. But you may be correct, for the wrong reason, as there is virtually no one close to retirement age left in the company anyways. Also, as in pre-2020, those "20-25% raises" will be given to younger employees (much more easily swayed by MW) to stick around, those approaching retirement will be receiving 0% raises but big bonuses.

The truth is incredibly obvious: if you're not one of MW's high-pots or diversity placements, then you are an expendable, replaceable cog, basically invisible, and you are allowed to keep your job only as long as you contribute to The Dividend.

Correct. And the huge raise will be golden handcuffs for those seeking to max their 3 years highest earning. Nobody will retire until 2026 now!

But we are getting 20-25% raise next cycle. Hang in there!

OP I agree. There was a time when I lived coming to work. No longer. Everyone I know feels the same. I am actively looking for a new job. Quit waiting for things to improve. There is no evidence they will.

So OP, instead of taking action you posted here on this site? That simply tells us that you are not serious and are rather helpless, pathetic and miserable and looking for sympathy. Well, you've come to the wrong place. If you have concluded that you need to jump ship to get a raise, good for you, but also - Adios Amigo!

Quiet quitters get quiet raises.

Best way to get paid is for Axeman to chop you out like in 2020.
