Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Massive layoff coming before 9 Dec earnings

Thats the only way to save the sinking stock. Just like the layoffs before last earnings.

@1bf Salaried in the US are on "unlimited PTO", meaning no vacation day accrual to cash out.

@1an if the do another round, they may choose to do it AFTER the holiday break. They save on PTO payout that way

@vj Mine from EVP level have always been on Thursdays.. first or second week of Mar/Jun/Sep/Dec… not exactly a coincidence but not a bad omen either. Dec 17th is as late in Dec as they can go before hitting holidays.

Layoffs to correct the stock price would make sense more generally, but we’ve done a lot of that this year and it hasn’t moved the market. But the timing of All Hands in December being an indicator is laughable.

@wg With stock price tanking and a historic share price drop in oracle's history, is this the begining of an end to AI madness.

@vj Its now cancelled. The leadership couldn't get their heads together on how to sell and make immediate money on AI.

There will be massive layoffs coming in the 2 months. Because Oracle had raised the bar high with shareholders and from the base they aren't selling any big or medium deals that could generate the forward looking fiscal goals.
Leadership is scratching their head on how to sell AI. Selling in cloud has come to stop still as the sales folks are looking for leadership guidance on the strategy with new leadership taking charge.

Does anyone have actual knowledge of layoffs coming in early 2026 or is this just speculation?

O should have reached by now the communicated target of RIF numbers so December should be a quiet month. There might be further reductions in January, and also June could be a risky moment - under the umbrella of new fiscal year budgets and restructuring.

We don’t expect any resource actions in 2025. Research tells us there’s several AI efforts underway that might reduce workforce in the late Jan to late February time frame. But those will be related to positions that are repeatable and can be automated. Expect to see more offerings of RSUs instead of promotions and raises as Oracle continues to balance and standardize the tech workforce.

There is another heavy wave of layoffs coming since there have been affirmative stack rankings of teams, but I believe it will be in Q3 FY2026 (January-Feb time frame)

But who knows at this rate? Oracle's stock is fully dependent on everything going right with future projected earnings from their OCI and Gen AI deals.

No more layoffs in 2025. Will see in 2026 again.
