I don’t know how the rest of you are. I assume the same. I just can’t stand not-knowing, and not even being certain whether it begins tomorrow or not. I wish mgmt was more decent and transparent about layoffs. This way we are working ourselves up to some serious levels of anxiety. Fine if it was something irrelevant and silly, but this is about our livelihoods, families and future.

@1buh+1tT5wC7x - Logan's Run is a PERFECT reference!
This old timer is with you. While I was Rif'd once a long time ago, I feel very vulnerable this go around being >50. Its such a different company since Larry was CEO, and I don't recognize it. I missed my opening to go into the office the first half of this week, and i'm stuck going Thur or Fri... not ideal. One of our team left recently, and we are all praying it will satisfy the HReaper as we know we are in scope. I checked in with the other Old Timer coworkers today, we keep reminder each other how rare it is to retire from this company willingly... so few make it. It reminds me of the movie Logan's Run.
Good Luck everyone, May the odds be ever in your favor.
The “leadership” in this company makes union membership more and more enticing.
The stress of a potential layoff hanging over your head either this week or any day going forward is exhausting. And the job market being less than ideal makes you hang on.
It also makes me more resentful (to put it mildly) of leadership.
I got a message from my manager via teams asking to chat… but then immediately followed up with “it’s about xyz project”. Thankfully she’s aware of the stress and tension we have going on this week. I still won’t breathe easy until Friday afternoon.
Someone emailed my team yesterday saying “Hey Team, don’t stress over this invitation,
It’s not that serious I promise. I consider myself a “a connected leader” so you can expect to have a FaceTime with me most likely once a month. I’m happy to answer any questions either on the spot or feel free to submit any ahead of the meeting.” It’s posed as us meeting with the Elevance team we are merging with but I about jumped out of my skin !!
The company is making billions in revenue !! Why layoff people?
I agree! I’m just hoping the SIU teams are spared from layoffs. Waiting for a pop up email to ruin my day is exhausting!
