Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Claims has been a mess for a while. India can't be much worse.

Long before the pandemic and layoffs claims from top to bottom has been in a nose dive in terms of service quality, process, accuracy, and execution. This started at least 5 years ago. Claims employees like to blame their current sh– show on layoffs and the pandemic but this was in play long before and the pandemic likely does up the end results.

There became a time several years ago where claims employees got it in their heads that they were above most areas of the company, the most important aspect of the company, and the safest part of the company. As a claims employee from 2011 to 2019 (moved to another department) I saw this with my own eyes. The self entitlement, arrogance, and holier than thou attitudes led to service issues and a lax in executing their responsibilities. I'm reality corporate sees claims as one of the biggest expense factors to the bottom line. This has made claims the easy target to move to India which is what we are seeing now. And the condition of claims over the past 5+ years I am not at all doubtful that a sweeping enema and move of that area to India (aside from accent) would be seen as all that much different. India is already being trained and certified for adjusting and inspection handling on both property and auto and the technology and self service saves money and allows all to be done at the same level anywhere in the world. In reality Allstate is and has been receiving $5 or so quality work from the average claims employee over the past half decade so why don't we move it to India where we can get the same level of work quality, hire triple the numbers to dò it, and save millions on our bottom line? No brainer. Customer surveys prove the level of service cannot be much lower in claims so in this case this is an area that can certainly be outsourced. Also before now claims was grossly overstaffed and now it is in line with the industry standard and other companies don't have a problem with their volumes. You want to know why? Because it is personal attitudes and behaviors that are keeping employees from performing as expected. Maybe India will bring a fresh attitude and clean environment to the department.

Regardless something would need done in a big way to cleanse the department of the toxic and poisonous mindsets that are present from top to bottom in our claims areas.

@1btf+1af98qYi if it means Allstate actually becoming price competitive with companies already sending their claims overseas, you'd be surprised what a customer will put up with. I'd rather talk to a respectively Patel than an entitled La'quisha any day of the week.

Sounds like Glenn posted this. It’s easy to sit back and look at widgets all day on your computer and play Quarterback. It’s people like OP who point fingers all day at us slaves accusing us of being too lazy and lacking a good work ethic. Can’t wait to see American policy holders irate at Indian adjusters denying their claims and refusing to pay shops for repairs to their vehicles for some crazy reasons like not using parts they found 5 states away for 1/5 the price !!

OP+1af98qYi You and upper management are the reason Allstate is losing tenured customers. If you currently worked claims you would know that we are 2 weeks behind in moving cars from towyards, overpaying on rentals , too busy doing inspections and processor duties to provide great customer service that even our supervisors are writing estimates with us. That proves we aren’t in line with staffing similar to other insurance companies. Shops are waiting 2-4 days for a VA adjuster to call back with a code to complete a VA inspection and totaled cars are sitting at shops incurring excessive storage charges because we can’t work fast enough to inspect and move them. Yeah, we’re working 50-60 hours a week because there’s no one else to assign inspects to. In my unit two VA fired adjusters have been offered their jobs back so that means Allstate realizes they layed off too many people.

+1 to OP.

Claims at Allstate can't get any worse, maybe India will be an improvement.

@zlb+1af98qYi imagine being on this much of a power trip over something that doesn’t amount to shit

You do know if people leave Allstate whether fired or on their own accord, they will be just fine, right? In fact, if anything, their quality of life will improve.

The "corporate trolls" run this ship. They decide at the snap of the finger if you have a job and decide if you and your little brats have food on the table. Best you check yourselves grunts.

OP is obviously a corporate troll who doesn’t work in claims. There were issues with workload balancing even before the layoffs, there have never been enough adjusters.

Walmart doesn’t hire enough cashiers to man the front because they can just page their part time employees to come from the floor and run a register for a few minutes. Allstate is doing the same thing. Screw quality, because if one employee has 60 seconds of free time then that means we’ve got too many people. Gotta stretch em thin to be sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

When offshore workers touch claims they immediately turn into a dumpster fire. Plus i can't figure out how they can protect our customers data. India barely prosecutes fraud to begin with.

OP is wrong.

If you disagree, you are probably a troll.
