Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Research forest

“We have confirmed that the spacing in our workspaces in RSF meets CDC guidelines >6feet) therefore everyone must work in the office full time”

Who are they kidding? The desks have 3 feet MAX between them. Vaccinated and unvaccinated people are being forced in close quarters and told that masks aren’t required. What could go wrong? The vaccinated people will save us right... like herd immunity?

Oh...enough people aren’t vaccinated for herd immunity?

And you can still get covid with the vaccine?

Well, at least I’m employed while I’m still alive before covid takes me out, amiright?

I hate this job with every fiber of my being. We need to strike. Why don’t office workers get a union to advocate for our rights like field employees do?

We didn’t even alternate schedules for a month and they decided to disregard all safety measures. They are so greedy it’s beyond me. How much more money do they really think will be made by forcing unhappy people into close quarters? This company is a case study for what NOT To do.

Enjoy your time in your field office, friend. Since I'm back in the office, I'm looking for ways to remove yours. Don't think you can be outsourced? Watch and see :)
And in case you have any doubts... Darren supports it 100%. #winning (but not you)

LOL - Probability of death of your average 30 year old male is 0.2% per year - before COVID!
Also, after been properly vaccinated, probability of death by COVID is much lower than probability of catching COVID :)

I’ve been told that showing up at the office is going to be a huge factor in who gets NSI this year. I worked from home because the company said that if you didn’t feel comfortable in the office that you could work from home. I did not feel safe going into the office and now I am going to be NSI? This is complete BS! I’m looking for another job and will leave EM before getting NSI. I have too long to go with EM to get a pension which is probably going away anyway. This is a dying company in a dying industry.

Do you want to trade places with me? I used to work at HL but was laidoff due to COVID. I'd choose risking COVID while at HL over no job at all. Darn COVID.

@1zds+1aFIWUx3 perhaps instead of encouraging other people to want less, you should want more for yourself.

Houston we have a problem. Outside of Houston in the field offices we’ve been working this whole time. What’s the problem.

If you’re that worried about COVID go exercise and eat right to lose some weight. Being fat is a huge risk factor.

I’m the OP. I have already “returned to work,” so I feel the reasonable time is now. However the current return to work agreement is that we alternate schedules so that no more than 50% of people are in the office at one time which is 100% reasonable. That safety measure is being eradicated and that is my sole issue. I have no problem going to the office on an alternating basis but that is the only way to social distance in research Forest and that’s being eliminated because of “business results.” And to top it off they’re telling us to ignore our eyes that can clearly see that our desks are not 6 feet apart.

ID: @1brr+1aFIWUx3 unless only the vaccinated people are going to be required to come to the office, you should refer to earlier comments in this thread about why that logic is faulty.

Nobody went to work at HL prior to the pandemic anyways. With the staff reductions anyone who thinks this would cause a problem is faking it.

So... When is it safe for you to go back to work???

There is a readily available vaccine, that eliminates the risk of you becoming seriously ill from COVID, on top of significantly reducing the odds of you getting it.

If you're unwilling to be at least reasonable about returning to work... You don't leave the company a whole lot of options on path forward.

I agree with you 0P. My primary issue is the fact that they felt the need to lie about Desk being 6 feet apart. That tells me they know it’s not socially distanced and they are choosing to lie anyway. This company lies to our faces day after day.

At best it feels like a last ditch effort at muscling morale into a more positive direction. Or it's to try to sort out who is and isn't working (and who to NSI), and the only way they can do that with poor leadership skills is to do so in person. It's crazy how the company who touted workplace flexibility and "Nobody Gets Hurt" is now the company of "you aren't working unless I see you sitting in a certain chair". Poor leadership manages by command and control and "because I said so."

There’s a .008% chance of catching Covid with the vaccine. The problem with that logic is the majority of Americans, let alone the majority of Texans are not vaccinated. So non-vaccinated people trying to rest on the laurels of the vaccinated ones is exactly how outbreaks begin. Because even if all the vaccinated people don’t get Covid, the majority of people can still get Covid because they are not vaccinated. Don’t create false confidence with cherry picked data and no common sense logic.

Can get Covid with vaccine? It’s like a .00005% chance
