Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How not to feel miserable?

I feel miserable in this company every day because I accept the unbearable working conditions just to be able to pay the bills. At the same time, I’ve been trying to find a new job for a long time, but I’m not succeeding. I’ve responded to a bunch of job postings, but there’s just always someone more lucky than me. I’m afraid I’m getting into a real depression because I don’t even have the will to try anymore, and when I need to work I’d rather sleep through the day.

Go to your doctor and start a claim for short term. Call the leave and disability number. You get 5 weeks at 100% and take that time to get yourself a plan and an exit strategy.

Allstate is going to work us to death every single day and want more and more until we quit or work 24/7. They’ve set impossible metrics and goals. We’d have to be near perfect to write perfect estimates like they want and have super high customer service surveys when customers , agents and shops are screaming every single day at us for Allstate’s transformative growth . Look around at how many good adjusters have quit in the last few months .

Distract yourself from this stress, stimulate your brain and enhance your resume with online learning via Allstate. There’s Degreed, LinkedIn Learning and other micro credentials. The job market is TOUGH right now but will get better with vaccines and time. Take this time to work on you and take advantage of company offerings.

Seriously? Not k–ling yourself at work to help keep your sanity is hurting your coworkers? Like you are going to stop the avalanche? Be my guest...that’s like trying to drain the ocean with a Dixie cup! The workload in claims is so massive, every adjuster could work 24 hrs a day and it wouldn’t make a bit of difference.

My attitude is Allstate doesn't care about their customers anymore so why should I? If they really cared they wouldn't have laid off 7,000 people last year, plan to send more jobs to AS India, and expect a smaller amount of people to do the same amount of work. Allstate cares about saving money and cutting expenses until they get bought out or our numbers really tank. So don't get burnt out by a company that isn't worth the anxiety. It's not worth your health.

Compartmentalize - work to earn and find happiness at home.

Just going to throw in my two cents I guess....

I work for myself and my family. Not my co-workers when I am not seeing another penny. I am not going to k–l myself doing all this extra work for my co-workers and getting so stressed that I neglect my family. They are on their own....

@1bjt+19TrGyM8 I don’t take calls but I clearly see the pressure being put on those that do. I feel horrible for the adjusters and I would hate to be a customer calling in. But people like you s—, no consideration for those you work with.

Bahahaha!

"Do your job! Do double the work because I'm dumb enough to! Think about the co-workers!"

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

A true sad defeated grunt that person is.

Ditto. Who in their right mind would give 100% to this company after the last 9 months let alone advocate for picking up all the extra work for same pay?

Either some of you are some real a–kissers to say that or are just home office trolls.

I agree with some of the prior posters. Just because some of you decided to double down on the work you do for the same amount of money doesn't mean the rest of us are obligated to. That is the choice you made. I value myself and my skills more than that. My work is also for a price. Employment is a two way street. And as for my co-workers eff them. Never liked them anyways. Have Shapiro and Wilson fill in where needed. They get overpaid well enough to get their hooves dirty.

Post ID: @xvx+19TrGyM8 Thank You! It's nice to hear there are some who don't and won't "dump" on others just to make a higher power suffer. Or think they are making others suffer. People at the top aren't the ones who will suffer. Or have you people not figured that out yet?

@xvx You really have some nerve. I DID do my job and at a BTE level. My jobs now is NOT to do double the work for the same money just to pad Tom and Glenn's bonuses and pockets. If you choose to be a fool and work yourself to the bone for the same pitiful wages doing double the work then have at it but don't expect us to live in your Hell. I will do the same amount of work I was doing before as that is the volume of work I decided to charge the company for my level of wages. Tom and Glenn laying off half our department doesn't change that and I will gladly go from BTE to expected if this means that. As for my co-workers I don't care what they do. Not my problem. We each individually set our own approach to the mess this company left us. Put on your "big boy/girl pants" and don't blame us, cowboy up and blame Tom and Glenn as this was their mess. Otherwise just keep cowering and keep doing double the work you used to for the same money and keep swallowing what they give you to swallow.

Well I think you are a chump. S— it up buttercup and take those 50 extra call a day for Tom and Glenn.

Then you can wear your big boy pants in the unemployment line like the rest of us.

S—er.

I can totally relate to be miserable and starting to feel depressed, I’m there with you. I am in a position that I really enjoyed and was challenged by. They cut our team by more than half & it’s mentally draining. I really don’t understand or respect the people saying they are doing just enough to get by or not get fired. You are putting more pressure on your coworkers and others are picking up your slack. Put your big boy/girl pants on and do your job.

Agree 100% with doing as little as possible to not get fired and save your mental health! Honestly, what are you going to lose!?!? A 2% raise at $50k per year is like $50 a month after taxes. Is that really worth it!?

I’m feeling the same as OP. I have almost daily panic attacks before I open my computer with the work load I know is coming down. I’m currently searching for a new position. What’s the process for using short term disability? I don’t know how to even start. But I need a mental break from the abuse.

One big collective stress disability is needed. Speed up that offshore process for these Chicago thugs. Time to “doctor up” as “lawyering up” won’t do any good. Start with a nice 6 week disability leave to get your personal self together.

My God people.

Please do yourself a favor and do the absolute minimum to not get fired. This company is sending our jobs to India. Do not, I REPEAT, do not have a stroke or nervous breakdown because of Allstate.

They don't care about you one bit. They don't care if you have been here 40 years and bled blue. You are a # on a report that costs too much to keep around.

Please face this reality & don't go one iota more than necessary to earn a severance and escape this hell hole.

Good luck to my fellow grunts!

Just slack off more. Look at the managers, they do nothing all day and still manage to get paid.
