Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Employment PTSD

I think working for Anthem has given me PTSD. When I started so many years ago, the work culture was great, teamwork and everything. Now after the RIF Oct 2023, I doubt every job I even look at. Like I am now stuck in a neverending cycle of seeing only the bad that can be buried under the false great place to work.

I used to be so stressed out but I’ve gotten to a place where I just don’t care anymore. Someone in a meeting asked about layoffs and the manager said not to worry and keep working. And 3 days later a few people were let go. 2025 goals lol …for me bare minimum

@1b7+1waKIDlX Same and I ended up at a normal job or maybe better than normal, I’m not sure though because I was so traumatized from working at Elevance and I have no idea what is normal.

My new employer told me that they love hiring former Elevance employees because we work so hard.

No regrets of quitting with no job lined up. I no longer have anxiety attacks or cry daily. If it came down to it, I would rather work 3 jobs to make ends meet than endure another day at Elevance. Take care of you, people. Your manager, director, and higher ups couldn’t care less!

@15j- there are several lawsuits underway. Some have already been listed on this site.

@14q+1waKIDlX I don’t think anyone wants to take legal action, or I’m sure that many people would have done so already. The point of the forum is for people to vent and tell their experiences, find community and hopefully warn others who are thinking about applying there.

I can identify with both the PTSD and the CTSD. There are way too many people saying and experiencing the same thing. There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company for allowing such a toxic workplace.

I'm so glad so see I'm not alone. My narcissist partner tells me it's just me and all in my head. He has no idea, yet calls me weak.

I don't have PTSD, I have CTSD - Current-traumatic stress disorder. The toxic stressful work environment at Hellavance is worse than any other place I have ever worked. I have never seen such prolific pass over of hard workers that are knowledgeable in favor of those 'nosing' leadership that get to skirt by doing very little work.... I am one of many hoping to land somewhere else in 2025.

Same, I am traumatized. I got RIFd two months ago and I am still struggling to decrease my anxiety. My cheat is heavy and my heart is constantly beating fast. I’m about to start therapy because of that god awful job. My friends and family keep telling me to just move on bc it’s in the past now, but it takes time to recover from abuse.

OP I think it’s time most of us moved on from this place. As a remote worker not near a pulse location hearing the vague statements of “you can still apply “ and “talk to the hiring manager” it’s pretty obvious that remote workers are being pushed out. I did apply for a bunch of jobs I am qualified for after the RIFs end of last year. Crickets. As a newcomer here I’ve had a diverse career outside this madness. Everywhere has its own politics and issues. But this company is awful. Low wages, no development or training opportunities, lack of recognition for performers and the absolute audacity of leadership is nuts here and NOT NORMAL.

I feel this so much! This place is like an abusive relationship. I advise anyone to get out now! Don't stay like I did thinking you won't find better.
