One thing I have noticed since leaving Texas is that in other states far fewer people work for big companies. Most of our current friends and neighbors work for a small business and quite a few actually own one. If you have any gumption at all, start a business of your own and grow it. It can take a couple decades to really get it going well, but the rewards can be huge. When retirement time comes, you simply sell out and pocket the cash. And you can forget nonsense meetings and processes.

Very few new businesses succeed.
Very few of those businesses that due succeed make a decent profit margin.
You are correct that it’s nice when a lucrative business that you own succeeds but let’s be honest that is not the norm
@1axf, What's stopping you from working or starting a business? Is someone twisting your arm, lol?
I know quite a few business owners including several with minimum business sense. Yet, they are thriving. A lot of small busninesses and services are hot right now,
retired and moved to florida
all people around me are retired
nobody runs a business
nobdy works
it crushes my soul
i'd go back to work in a heartbeat
Wtf does this have to do with Chevron or layoffs Brandon ?
If you want to be paid what you are actually worth, a business is the only way to get there. Anything else you are just a wage slave for life.
Ok popcorn, seems you are so smart to figure it out after leaving Texas!!!
The issue is that not everyone is good at starting a business, nor every business succeeds. Finally, every business has it's own challenges, it is not all about meetings!
The IQ of Texas as a whole has gone up drastically since you left!
