When is SD Wan going to save us? We’re losing millions each month and all management can say is sell over the top solutions. Get real, our customers are running as fast as they can. I hope Frontier buys us soon so we can flush out the top and their ridiculous, desperate plans. #growthcompany

What the heck! I was hired for my Allworx experience, then 4 years later laid off cause it's not sold, going with UCaaS and Broadsoft. Now you are saying Allworx is on deck again?
Hope they lost my number, having to much success without a job.
"You want another failing company to buy this failing company?"
Why not. Windstream merged with ELINK, which was a failed dial-up Internet provider from the '90s. Or with Paetec/McLeod, which was a failed CLEC provider that went bankrupt how many times?
It fits the pattern.
They recently announced they will restart selling Allworx again, I think that is a good idea, great product to keep small customers happy that don't want hosted solutions, and it keeps line count which is good for ILEC revenue. I don;t think anyone on CLEC ever considered that part of the equation, glad they started to realize that, we kept waiting for the UCAS orders and only heard crickets. I don't get all the buzz with SDWAN it seems like more revenue would be made selling MPLS, rather than having a customer have a DSL and a cable internet connection with a box that routes traffic over which route is up at the moment. It's nice to be able to do that, but it seems like your cannibalizing your core business. I hope we get so busy we have to rehire some of you guys.
The Frontier deal could have more synergy than you might imagine, most of those are old GTE properties so it would be equipment that Windstream could handle and already has in it's network.
SDWAN isn't the end all for WS. I am not sure what our contract obligations are but Velo won't be around for ever. As others have said this is just a dual port ipsec router watching traffic and switching tunnels in real-time. At some point we will roll out a white box solution and roll our own open source solution.
Also frontier is hosed right now, go take a look at all of the debt that they carry. They are worse off than we are right now and their stock price reflects that. They went through a 7 to 1 reverse split in the past. They are also looking to sell off 3 failing markets they just bought from Vs.
Our integration with ELINK has gone poorly. Everything we are doing now should have been happening a year ago. WIN bit off more than it could chew. We we soo stupid to buy Broadview and then Mass. One thing at a time or run all of these companies independently and roll them in as needed. There are way too many moving parts right now.
Lots of customers hate WS with a passion. Soon as a new opportunity presents itself they will typically jump. The company i went to after WS has had nothing but nightmares with them and as a part of the new network architecture im putting into place we will be pulling the plug on all WS services in the near future.
Great point, but it's not just WIN that seems to be obsessed with the buzz, CTL and others are too. To me, SDW just seems to be different hardware and routing with a new brand. I'm not sold yet, but time will tell.
I'm not sold on FTR either. Do your research. They've been struggling for years now. WIN just seems to be following down very similar tracks as them. Per the execs, WIN plans to start spinning off assets in smaller chunks as they find vulnerable suspects. Hang on.
As far as customers, I've personally witnessed two of the largest MRC accounts in this market in a school district and hospitality cancel ALL of their services from WIN and go with the "new company" in town. This is the new trend...nationwide.
Find your drive. Find your motivation. Are you willing to ride the storm in hopes for a better day or to cash out a dieing pension? Or is it time to jump ship and just start swimming. Life boats are out there.
This is different for everyone, so you do you.
Who wants a mustache ride?
I honestly never understood the hype over sdwan. just normal load balancing with a probe and some rules that say use best connection and if you are replacing MPLS obviously its just going to be an ipsec tunnel that does it no magic about it. The industry has just went crazy with the buzz word as of late but the technology with in it is really nothing new at all.
SD-WAN is the biggest joke service ever it's just a god damned VPN here people nothing new and even worse than any other service due to overhead and added latency... Any one can do it yourself without f---ing Windstream. Hey use Amazon AWS? You should because it's worth a sh--.. you can create VPNs to your sites to it and even have multiple backup routes because it's just a VPN... Hey you have SDWAN for a price damn well cheaper than Windstream or anyone else's snake oil. once the directors stop drinking the koolaide the it people will rip the sh-- out...
I know the company is crawling on all fours struggling to stand. How about some optimism for once ? Alot of people still work there and want to keep a job. Yes the leadership has their heads up their a holes but i think they realize how deep they put the company in a pile of p--p to get out of now. They appear at least to really be trying finally. Hope for the better. Optimism.
It’s hard to imagine Frontier buying Windstream, but our sales leadership believe we can sell enough SDWan and 20k deals. Take a look around, disconnects are coming so fast they have a 2 month backlog. 4 million in losses each month. This is the result of buying companies with a failing business model and Windstream taking their best practices.
I understand the acquisitions for assets, but implementing business plans of a failing company that was acquired has been proven not to work (ever) . Converting a company like Windstream to a growth company has never been done.
For those who don’t believe, just wait and see. #growthcompany
"apparently there is still idiots on board that haven't gotten riffed yet." Concern trolling over the upper management is disruptive. Yes, they're idiots (imo), but reap very generous rewards regardless of their performance. They will survive....somehow.
"You want another failing company to buy this failing company?" Windstream has proven that it doesn't work well with it's record of acquisitions since 2009.
Speaking of customers running, I did a small IP-PBX install this week on some AT&T fiber. So on the drive over I'm thinking the name sounded familiar, sure enough I installed their hosted back when I was a BST! Even an easy cut with the "SAT" tech actually in Slovakia! And yes, this customer was thrilled to kick Windstream to tge curb.
Oh great another person that thinks frontier is in better shape than Windstream based on the stock price, apparently there is still idiots on board that haven't gotten riffed yet.
